Innovative startup Telnames launches its service in Wales this week at the South Wales Chamber of Commerce exhibition at the Cardiff City Stadium. This new service helps small businesses create an effective and inexpensive online presence, enabling them to capitalise on the explosive growth in smartphones and mobile search in the UK simply and easily. Priced at just £14.95 per year, it also suits businesses with budgets of any size.

Ian Bowen-Morris, CMO of Telnames, said: “With people increasingly using their mobiles to find and contact businesses when they’re on the go, Telnames offers an easy and quick service for them to be found online and in search engines in a mobile-friendly way. Wales has a rich base of SMEs, micro-businesses and professionals in sectors as diverse as arts and crafts, tourist attractions, guest houses and professional consultants. Whether you make love spoons, run a pub or teach surfing, owning your own Telname makes sense.”

Results from the June YouGov survey “Smartphone Growth in the UK” indicate that almost half of mobile phone users are now using smartphones. Telnames helps businesses to be found on mobile phones through one simple, effective online presence and requires no technical skills to get started.

Further information regarding Telnames and the registration process can be found at http://www.telnames.com, or by visiting stand 93 at the South Wales Chamber of Commerce Annual Business Exhibition on Thursday 14th June 2012.

It's become extremely obvious recently that the marketing of the .tel extension is being done by Telnames, not Telnic (even though so many staff, premises, etc overlap).

Even the latest recruit, http://MarkEllis.tel - with the title of "Head of Online Marketing" - comes under the Telnames rather than the Telnic banner.

So .Tel domains, when first encountered by "Joe Public", are likely from now on to be of the Telnames single-page variety as shown by http://YourBusiness.tel

That's fair enough - if that is what the public want - we just need to be careful when selling .tel domains that our buyers are aware they are not getting what many will perceive as the .Tel standard i.e. a Telnames template domain.

Of course if Name.com, Dynadot etc were able to offer the Telnames template this problem of potentially misleading aftermarket domain buyers need not exist at all !
