1 question the everyone will be better to have two sites; 1 .com and 1 .tel that could get a lot information from .com site? or will be better to integrate .tel into .com? The thing is: will be people confused is your business have two sites, do we have to tell our customers, look we have 2 sites 1 mobile and the other normal. Opinions please Regards |
I suggest using your dot com url as the main site and forwarding mobile users from your dot com site to your dot tel site. The code you need is on the telnames site at http://www.telnames.com/faq/redirect/ Regards, Keith |

We have two sites: . .Com & .TEL. Recently we started promoting the .TEL (Mobile - xxxxxx.TEL) and we have been surprised that our regular customers (numbering in the hundreds) are using the.TEL more than the .COM when they want to find our telephone number. The response has been good. A few of our customers have registered Tels of their own. |

Some growing number of marketing guys do indeed believe now it is more important to go for design of websites with "mobile first" in mind . Perhaps another chance for dot TEL in general , if grabbed properly . Although there are variable answers, pros and cons about adaptative design, versus responsive design or separate mobile website, practical Redirection techniques in the end, are at lead the (good) technical answers to back to basics question as to passively push towards m.mybrand.com or to mybrand.tel , although redirection do not solve fully the real dilemna. There are indeed for next steps, two main questions nowadays : - one is rather more "what do you actually promote first" in your flyer , your marketing campaigns : the incumbant dot com website although everyone goes mobile and the mybrand.com is not even optimised for mobile nor for mcommerce, while the m.mybrand.com still very complex to propell and nurture ..... or a separate dedicated mobile website with simplified purpose to match mobile (not tablet) specific simple needs? - the other question is about "what finally your customers do prefer , will adopt, and use" on their own, independantly from your efforts. Evidence that some start (depending sector,; more likely SMBs and B2C street related business and its marketing ) to prefer simplified mobile ready and fast websites like dot TEL , when they happen to experience it are encouraging signals, however not so surprising.over time considering the "phone" incumbant feature .... of whatever latest "Smartphones" if I can find a dumm phone number in an immediate call-to-action format over a 20 html-pages website with heavy pictures and not fitted design. Those advocating m.mybrand.com have of course their sophisticated good reasons, but the more Joe public is aware while walking in the street that some mobile website are just there to provide him with the simple information important to him, the sooner he might turn to fast easy mobile website first (at least when he needs this information, which is when he has most of the time his smartphone at immediate reach / remember the anytime anywher motto from mobile propaganda ....which win since some years ) . SO obviously the more Joe public , as an end user and mobile web visitor, discover about useful TELs , the more it might brings greater momentum for TELs , whatever their templates. It is been discussed here how difficult it might be to rely on Google mobile search without previous awareness of the searched dot TEL existence. Chicken and egg One smart on going trend in street marketing guerilla, as a smart no cost additionnal marketing proposal to the above discussion about how to push awareness of a mobile url, is to promote your TEL ( or TELs from your customers or from friends in your vicinity ) as the easy label and landing page for WIFI networks , especially for shops, merchants , bars , restaurant offering free WIFI to their customers. See on www.SSIDs.TEL an interesting propaganda for labelling your WIFI networks with dot TEL url and landing page as their wireless name, instead of "mssjmkldfnr" ... or just the shortened names of restaurant . A now VERY easy and effective 24/7/7 marketing of the restaurant' s TEL , still more sexy than the label m.yourbusiness.com seen from your mobile perspective on the spot, and a very cool collateral marketing about .TEL existence and proposals, at no cost, with great public exposure ( for sure depending of the density of people at location of the wifi source and of the ) ... IS THIS WAS MISSING SO FAR , a simple way for public awareness ? |
