I knew it was high but not that high. Good .TEL has that as standard. That is worth a few tweets.

even better: if we can forwards a .tel to another .tel, why is not possible to forwards a .tel to a phone number?

    Regards

Think Mark tried that once, that is, if you have just a single telephone contact number as the only item entry, at either the root domain.tel and/or the sub.domain.tel ....the handset would dial the listed number!

...can't recall getting it to work.
    Mark?

Don't recall ever trying that. Don't have a domain handy to see if that would work. Aled?[/size]

This is very important think. The future of the .tel is this, to be a smart-global-comunicator long time durable, webRtc.

Whatsapp, 19.000 mill , and in 3 or 4 year will be obsolete.

Aled is on leave this week. However, the standards work by the IETF prevent a direct domain name/IP to phone call action, hence why, when you click on a NAPTR record with a callto: or tel: label, the associated app will pop up to confirm that you actually want to conduct this operation. This was, I belive, to prevent customers from unwittingly clicking on very expensive premium rate numbers, etc (hence why in the contact options there is a record for premium rate).

The closest we could get to was that shown by apps like voipGATE where, if there was one telephone number listed it would automatically look it up as the option to connect to, display it, at which time the caller could choose to call the number.

We have been tracking WebRTC for a while now. It's still not entirely stable, but we are looking at things like OpenRTC, rawr.com, etc with a view to seeing how it might - please note MIGHT - integrate with .tel.

    Regards,
    Justin

Thank very much Justin, hopefully we could see that integration onto .tel some time soon.

Thanksss. And, with all of that, Mark make a smart-global-comunicator, and will be more rich and more famous that Jan Koum and Brian Acton

    makes more sense now!
alas, the huge 50% (on mobiles, and now 20% on whats left of the PC) of the market is not supported.
how can webRTC be a success if it leaves out apple devices and computers?

    wax03-30-2014 05:26 PM

importance of base call-to-action in dot TELs ( voice,SMS, USSD )

A few further hints for your kind reading :

    • click to call is highly important as the most popular call-to-action on mobile after a mobile web search (as after landing to a mobile web/wap url pushed by SMS within a push SMS campaign, therefore also after a PUSH SMS campaign landing onto a dot TEL mobile responsive url that can be accessed by feature phones and smartphones). Although nearly ALL yellow pages website ( excl. apps), or other non very optimised websites (about 90% of them ? ) do not support the function to enable click to call after the mobile user has spent a dozen clicks already to search for a phone number....while dot TEL does offer it genuinely EMBEDDED.

    • of course Google is advocating the importance of click to call , and it is a good point to TEL the world /tell the Word ;+) , but also indeed , as to better emphasis on their paid click to call option within adsense (forbidding a phone number to be promoted into a standard adsense to better promote they phone number promotion option ).
Whatever the final reason, at least the results from the Survey from Google are interesting although already well known by ....mobile operators and mobile VAS providers from their core business !

    • having dot TEL directories embedding sub pages for click-to-call or click-to-sms upon contact details for the companies listed in such directories, or from external Telnames pages linked from such dot TEL directories, YES is THEREFORE of HIGH value and highly suitable usecases towards present ongoing web mobilization .

    • it is very safe, highly recommanded and frequently required , both in specifications and in daily usage, that the mobile user is required to validate the call to action before finally launching it, for obvious safety reasons, potential cost monitoring, and anyway, responsability of the user about the action about to be launched from HIS mobile.

    • however the call-for-action (whatever the bearer : voice, SMS, USSD, for the most popular ones over cellular ) is definitively highly usefull to PROMPT PREFILLED info attached to shortcode numbers, phone numbers, or even hybrid commands (texting keywords, sending USSD sequences, etc).

    • on this last point , not all mobile browsers are yet fully compatible (best exemple being Apple over IPhones) in passing ¶meters properly attached to a Number to call or to a number to text to, in full compliancy to specs or recommandation when typically in relation to smsto: and callto: commands, such callto commands being used for USSD launch also

    • pointing out that mobile payment in many countries are often initiated or triggered from SMS sending or USSD call sequences ...

    • OPERA and OPERA mini, very popular browsers on feature phones in AFRICA , ASIA, and somehow in LATAM, are NOW reviewing the origin of the very bad rendering of .TELs over OPERA and OPERA mini, and whether it comes from their side which appears to be a counter performance from what they claim and position for (unless it originates from the present css version attached to dot TEL rendering in general).

    • Hoping FIREFOX will start to do the same (and possibly certainly easier to convince after/once OPERA resolves .TELs much better).

    • >>>>> Also HIGHLY suggesting THEREFORE that dot TELs FIRST of ALL are pushed AND recognised for their GREAT ability and capability for traditional click-to-call and click-to-SMS , that integrate perfectly and contribute positively AT THIS TIME to present core business of mobile telcos and Wireless Service Providers worldwide, to get them support TELs as a good option to protect and secure their incumbent business model, BEFORE dot TEL support webRTC or others still to get momentum, or to further OTT alternatives like WhatsApp calling , which latter however will come very very rapidly disrupting on the market now.
