    Here is the complete proposition:

    ICANN Registry Request Service

Internet Domain Services BS Corp (IANA ID 2487) are negotiating commercial terms to assign the business of a .tel reseller organisation which includes a large portfolio (but less than 50,000) of .tel domains and associated customers. The reseller currently uses Key-Systems GmbH (IANA ID 269) as the sponsoring registrar.

Internet Domain Services BS Corp have requested that Telnic Ltd seek ICANN approval to allow the bulk inter registrar transfer of the reseller .tel portfolio from the incumbent sponsoring registrar (Key Systems GmbH) to Internet Domain Services BS Corp.

Pending ICANN approval, implementation of the bulk transfer by Telnic would be conditional upon completion of a commercial agreement between Internet Domain Services BS Corp and the reseller.

Very likely, since Key Systems GmbH isn't in charge of so many other .tel domains:

    Here are more details:

The reseller had entered "without prejudice" commercial discussions with Key Systems GmbH to determine if Key Systems were interested in on boarding the customer and domain portfolio however due to a number of reasons, Key Systems were not able to proceed with the agreement.

As such the reseller is now working with Internet Domain Services BS Corp to complete a commercial agreement.

    What does that mean?
Will Telnames be resolved? Instead, the operation will be continued by internet.bs?

My preference for the inevitable takeover of Telnic/Telnames is still with Afilias though !

May be now, negociating with ICANN about renewing of the agreement for the next years Telnic needs to liquidate compromated things like ownership of Telnames. Now, then a lot of new extensions appeared it should be easier to fish in troubled waters. So, by my opinion, Telnic will renew that agreement successfully and will remain the boss. So I think that nothing will change after March.

Not clear (I don't have any internet.bs .tel domains myself) if they are offering the Telnames single-page format - as still available at the Telnames promo site http://yourbusiness.tel - or not ?

What exactly is internet.bs - see https://internetbs.net/telnames.html - now offering to .tel registrants ?

    Some questions for them:

    1. Do existing Telnames registrants get the Telnames control panel and single-page design as currently shown by yourbusiness.tel ?

    2. If so, is this ongoing or will they be transitioned to the original Telnic control panel and multi-page design (as supplied by ALL other Telnic registrars) after a while ?

    3. Will existing .tel registrants at internet.bs be offered the Telnames design as an option i.e. will they have the choice of using either their existing Telnic or the new Telnames control panel ?

    4. Will new .tel registrants at internet.bs be offered the same choice ?

    5. If the answer to 3) and 4) is Yes, will you be able to switch to and from the two designs within your internet.bs account as and when you want ?

internet.bs really do need to answer these questions to avoid Fear, Uncertainty & Doubt creeping into their new .tel setup !

    @ Mike

    1. Yes, all existing Telnames sites remain the same.

    2. It's up to internet.bs, but for now the design of Telnames sites remain the same. I have doubts that internet.bs will invest development effort into it.

    3. For now, the design for Telnames sites will remain the same without adjustment.

    4. That would make sense, but internet.bs has to adjust the .tel control panel and their user interface for that. I don't know if they have a plan for that.

    5. That would be too good to be true. I doubt that this will happen soon.

For sure, the purpose of this transition was to break free Telnic from those domains for several reasons:

    1. The Telnames project wasn't successful.
    2. The registry Telnic wasn't allowed to act as registrar (Telnames):
    http://www.teltalk.org/t559-icann-complaint-against-telnames
    3. Telnic has no manpower to administrate Telnames anymore.
    4. The .tel registry agreement will expire in four months.
    5. The intention for developing Telnames further was dropped years ago.
    6. The business of Telnames was heavily in deficit:
    https://companycheck.co.uk/company/07471889/TELNAMES-LIMITED/financial-accounts
    7. Telnames had no chance to survive with the former setup.
    8. No one needs a heavily restricted one-pager from Telnames as website.
    9. Telnic has to slim down due to its own financial crisis:
    https://companycheck.co.uk/company/03555437/TELNIC-LIMITED/financial-accounts
    10. The management of Telnic isn't able to administrate a domain extension properly.

Nightmare Login Problems with internet.bs version of Telnames control panel !

A few weeks ago I helped a friend get their small business an online presence with a Telnames single-page site (complete with Image Gallery & PayPal payment section) for contact/promotion linked to a Twitter site for blogging about their actions in the service industry in which they operate.

Today, following the transfer of Telnames .tel domains to internet.bs, I was going to help with a bit of enhancement to the Telnames .tel we had set up.

We got into the internet.bs account OK, having followed the password reset procedure specified in the email mentioned at  https://internetbs.net/telnames.html

There's no link from the internet.bs account to the control panel, but a quick "online chat" confirmed it was located at http://telhosting.internet.bs/g2/login.action

BUT we just couldn't login at all - even though we checked and double-checked that we were using the correct username and the new password internet.bs had emailed us following the required password reset.

No problem I thought - we'll just use the "Forgetten your password" link at http://telhosting.internet.bs/g2/login.action, get a new reset link emailed to us and then copy/paste the new password into the Telhosting login page.

BUT we couldn't even get that far as the "Forgetten your password" link requires the internet.bs account email address, but copying/pasting that just brings up a "Not Recognised" message.

We again went to "online chat" (the phone number given takes you to Central NIC - not internet.bs - and after listening to the usual intro spiel then just cuts off) and after the Help Desk person tried entering the same account email address they admitted it did not work and said this will have to go to Level 2 support for them to look into.

So no updating of the Telnames.tel is possible at the moment via the internet.bs version of the Telnames control panel - at least that was our experience today.

Why do so many companies not properly test software and data conversion these days ?

The link provided by internet.bs is only valid for the control panel of "old" Telnic customers, but not for Telnames customers!
Either there is a different link for Telnames customers or Telnames and internet.bs forgot to make a control panel available for Telnames customers for the time after the transfer to internet.bs.

Looks like internet.bs has been reading the concerns expressed in this thread and at https://twitter.com/mikeseaton !

Click http://www.telnames.com or the page it redirects to https://internetbs.net/telnames.html and you will see they have updated this page to deal with the login issue.

Interesting comment about how new internet.bs customers will automatically get the Telnames format - I may consider transferring some of my Telnic .tels at the cheaper (compared to Telnames £14.95pa) prices shown at https://internetbs.net/en/domain-name-registrations/price.html#TEL to increase saleability.

    http://MikeSeaton.tel

PS. Doesn't the ICANN .Tel contract say ALL Registrars must be treated equally by Telnic (who sold the Telnames .tels to internet.bs) in terms of Registry software distribution (eg. supply of the Telnames format) ?

Direct services at telnames.com have now been closed

All customer services have now been moved to Internet.bs

As part of a strategic partnership Telnames have now assigned all .tel domain subscriptions and contracts to Internet Domain Services BS Corp (Internet.bs), effective from 1st February 2016.

If you are an existing Telnames customer then all of your existing services are still available at www.internet.bs, however your password will need to be updated. We have already sent an email to your registered email address with the password reset link, however if you have not received this you can reset this using the “Forgot my password” button under the login box at the top right of your page.

The price for your .TEL domain and services remains the same, but as we were unable to transfer your payment information please add your payment details to your account as soon as possible.

If you have any questions or require support with Internet.bs domain management portal please contact your dedicated support team at telnames@internet.bs.

How do I update my .tel website?

Whilst your .tel domain and renewal management is now being handled via www.internet.bs, your .tel website configuration management will remain unchanged. In order to manage your website please visit http://www.telnic.org/community/manage-your-tel and login with your existing account information.

Is my Telnames design changing to the standard Registrar .tel design?

No. All existing Telnames customers will continue to use the more advanced Telnames hosting setup. All new domain registrations through existing customer accounts will also use the more advanced Telnames hosting setup. In the future you may be given the option to choose which .tel website design you prefer but for now the Telnames design is the only design available through www.internet.bs for existing Telnames customers. www.internet.bs new customers and existing customers will continue to use the standard TelNIC registrar offering.

I have not received my password reset email.

Occasionally our emails may be flagged as SPAM by incoming mail servers. Please check your SPAM folder for the password reset email and email telnames@internet.bs with one of your domain names if you have not received.
