What do you think about Professor Popcorn: http://professorpopcorn.tel/ versus http://profpopcorn.co.uk/
Which website is more professional: .tel or .co.uk?

If Professor Popcorn could get a couple of subdomains on TelNames, then he can kiss goodbye to his legacy website.

I'm thinking if we had the template from Telnames and only a few subfolders back in 2009, dottel would have hit like a bomb.
Luckily Telnic had learned their lesson. So let’s hope we will get at least 3 subfolders too.

I wonder, what is the difference for that registrar to get users 3, 5, 10 subdomains, or to get 3000 subdomains?

I think that in fact only small part of users will use fully those 3000 subdomains, so the expenses of keeping them somewhere in DNS will be not a question of big money. So why they stubbornly are holding to that "handycapped" model of TEL?

I see a bunch of stuff on http://profpopcorn.co.uk that is unnecessary clutter, if the point of his site at .co.uk was to show how he's the right entertainer for the job it leaves too much to decide over for the end customer who might only have hours to find a new entertainer if its either a last minute thing or if it's something they've forgotten to arrange (like most dads? might be forgetful) or any number of reasons people don't want to waste time browsing, look at yellow pages it's a few tiny adverts in a book without any context they have to choose based on those or try to find out more information about them online and it's all a waste of time.

Vs http://professorpopcorn.tel where he can put an introductory video, and the background at a glance shows happy children enjoying what he provides, thus is that not all a parent needs to know? will my child enjoy this act? and as the evidence is upfront to see that without unnecessary sub pages of his career which don't matter he should get more bookings but that I would like to hear from his mouth if that was the case.

Also we should have been allowed at least a subdomain that is corresponding to the prefix Prof. Mr. Miss. but not have content on it, more of a link to redirect to base page so then he would not have to have professorpopcorn.tel he could have bought prof.popcorn.tel which is I think cooler, where else could he as a small business man get a cool short url?

So simple questions on a per glance need to be shown immediately, What is it? is it right for me? how much does it cost? and how do I contact this person? with .tel you have all that, vs a regular site that is just gibberish about his career and what hes done.

The phrase LESS IS MORE sums up the case nicely for http://ProfessorPopcorn.tel !

    http://MikeSeaton.tel

PS. And the .tel (unlike the .co.uk) will work seamlessly on mobile phones !

Yes, while most website owners will need at most 5 subdomains, from the technical point of view by enabling subdomains it wouldn't make a difference to realize 5 or 3,000 subdomains.

that was me i been watching the name for some time..i have popcorn.tv..just little time to develop and i do think the likes of me and other domainers like http://www.domains123.com/ have done themselfs and dot tel no favours....

but it is telnic fault for not holding back more names and even developing them ...

and why any dot tel domainer would be interested in there affiliate scheme after the way they treated us on there forum

they need to establish themselves as a good realable company first....but i guess some would sell there own grannys for a buck......

i wish i could stop speaking my mind.....gets me into trouble sometimes!

That's one point. Probably Telnic have closed their forum, because they have realized fighting with domainers doesn't bring anything good.

As a consequence the Telnic forum is dead, but I guess Telnic don't mind because they are completely focused on Telnames now. No updates for Telnic have happened since long anymore.

    Eh ?!

BTW the reason I let http://Popcorn.tel drop is that I don't really believe there is much chance of reselling it !

What you need to appreciate is:

    a) The only future being mapped out for .tel is for Telnames to market the single-page http://YourBusiness.tel style of template.

    b) Telnames is (at least currently) only targeting small businesses (max 10 staff including owner) whereas a domain name like "Popcorn" is aimed at a national rather than local business level.

But good luck anyway with http://Popcorn.tel - I just wouldn't waste valuable time developing a subdomain-based site if you intend to put it up for sale - buyers will from now on expect a .tel site to be in Telnames format like the promo domain http://Ben.tel

Funny: Popcorn.tel got dropped and found always a new owner every single year since 2009.

i have had some good offers for my domain this year...mainly from members of this forum .the proplem is they keep moving the goal post...if i was a registrar like say dynadot i would be a little pissed at telnames selling .tel

they will be getting messages to there supports saying how do i get my video on my tel like telnames they have seen.

and then they will stop promoting dot tel

not made that very clear have i

what interesting in my town is..all the mobile phone shops in my city have a dot tel....competition does that!

thats mainly becouse i got sign over two shops

thats how they get the next wave of tel buyers

i get customers saying unlocktel for discount most days

but i work in mobiles not sure if it would work as well in anything else
