Welcome to the objective forum for .tel domains! Read it first when anything is happening with .tel!

$40 for an one sheet page?mikeseaton wrote:Have just checked out the latest version of the home page http://www.telnames.com myself and confirm that it clearly states:
* Introductory price - expires 14 Jan 2013 (normal price £24.95). Includes set up, hosting & VAT.
I'm surprised it's true. My guess is Telnames has the same problem as Telnic with low sales and is desperate now in finding ways to compensate the high costs for the TV ad on Sky in December.Mad Max wrote:$40 for an one sheet page?mikeseaton wrote:Have just checked out the latest version of the home page http://www.telnames.com myself and confirm that it clearly states:

now telnic is losing sense of reality entirely
Of course, because everybody can see how easy it would be to program a better website builder than Telnames. I'm wondering why so many people are complaining about tel. Usually customers will leave and never come back if they are not satisfied. But probably most of you have invested too much money into a company that doesn't want to listen to you. I will just drop all of my tel and will find my peace with it.Expert wrote:Instead the launch of Telnames has accelerated the downward trend.

According to HosterStats the "Net" Drop (i.e. allowing for Pickups) is 92,337 between March 2011 (333,891) and January 2013 (241,554).TelKing wrote:According to http://teldomains.co/?go=drops 153,841 .tels dropped since June 2011.
Telnames forgot to update the video on their website. I get an error there: http://www.telnames.com/what-is-a-dot-tel/Phillipe wrote:Telnames is preparing the price rise. The excellent "Welcome to Telnamees" video has been deleted from Youtube, because the old price $14.95 is mentioned inside.
What will happen now? Will the Telnames customers drop their domains?Phillipe wrote:Telnames is preparing the price rise.
You won't find out until after the anniversary of Telnames launch is reached - April 2013.FrankW. wrote:What will happen now? Will the Telnames customers drop their domains?Phillipe wrote:Telnames is preparing the price rise.

But remember that many Telnames customers paid either £5.00 or £9.95 with trade show discounts, so it's quite a hefty rise to be asked to register/renew at £24.95 ($40.68 at today's XE.com exchange rate) from 14 January 2013.
I'm surprised that Telnames has chosen to do this, since at 4 times the street price of a $10.00 Telnic .tel it really means there is no chance of existing registrars ever being able to offer the Telnames format.
This price rise has led me to rethink the transfer of up to 500 Telnic .tels to Telnames - the big problem of course is that the Telnic .tel format is no longer being marketed.
Maybe it's time to get the **** out of this never-ending catalogue of issues, or is it worth hanging on for just a bit longer ?

for sure it won't bring new customersFrankW. wrote:What will happen now? Will the Telnames customers drop their domains?Phillipe wrote:Telnames is preparing the price rise.
noboday can know the future, but with the current issues it is clear nothing will improve soonmikeseaton wrote:Maybe it's time to get the **** out of this never-ending catalogue of issues, or is it worth hanging on for just a bit longer ?
No need to speculate. Just observe:Natal wrote:Why everybody is so negative? Maybe Telnic is close to a breakthrough that justifies the price increase.

If you believe that one nice day something can drastically change for better, then, may it is worth to take a risk. Of course, the another thing is how much (and which ones) of the current TELs you have to leave and which ones to drop.mikeseaton wrote:Maybe it's time to get the **** out of this never-ending catalogue of issues, or is it worth hanging on for just a bit longer ?
I understant that in this way, that if they will make a such "breakthrough", they will increase prices and we will have losses. If they will not make a "breakthrough", then we again will have losses because we will pay endlessly for renewing TELs, which has no value. So in any case we will have losses.Natal wrote:Maybe Telnic is close to a breakthrough that justifies the price increase.
You mean Telnames of course, Telnic domains will hopefully remain at their current level of approx 10 USD.Natal wrote:Why everybody is so negative? Maybe Telnic is close to a breakthrough that justifies the price increase.
I try to guess:mikeseaton wrote:Not sure what sort of "breakthrough" you think would justify a price increase of nearly 67% (ie. £10.00 increase on £14.95) ?

It looks like you just have to think of £24.95 as the "normal price", and the £14.95 we all got used to as nothing more than a temporary "introductory price" to Telnames !
http://MikeSeaton.tel
Don't you mean £24-95 as being the normal price but £9-95 as the price we all got used to?
Well I suppose £9.95 could be viewed as the street discount price, £14.95 as the normal price which turned out to be just introductory, and £24.95 as the new normal price which will exist for nn months ?Orangeblossom wrote:Don't you mean £24-95 as being the normal price but £9-95 as the price we all got used to?
