TelFriends really needs a facelift; the published picture on the homepage is very old-fashioned.

At the moment this application is hardly used by anyone what is caused by several reasons:
    • It doesn't work user-friendly.
    • Due to low registration numbers of .tel domains it's hard to find people you want to connect with.
    • It's impossible to differentiate several .tel domains if you own more than one.

If .tel would become a success, we would need this! Empty Telnic/Telnames private data protection

Post by .tel 2013-06-18, 10:18 am

Today we are able to restrict via Telfriends the access to our private .tel data. As all of you know this is a very limited service and it’s complicated to use, too.
The fundamental idea behind .tel was a single point of contact for the owner.  But with Xing, Linkein, etc.  this dream will never become true.
However there could be another opportunity for DNS stored private data like in a .tel domain.  But only if these private data are flexible to protect via password/key.
As I mentioned before the usage of Telfriends is quite complex and not very flexible. I.e. CRM tools frequently query XING about any contact data changes. Sure the XING URL need to be stored at the CRM.  The same is valid for LinkedIn and other social networks. Instead of polling all social networks it could be much easier to poll a .tel domain.  Maybe XING itself would provide such interface.
To protect individual data by a separte password/key via Telfriends is impossible today.
The question is if Telnic or Telnames are able to improve the current situation. So that we can protect our individual data by different passwords/keys.

    Thanks

A lot of good ideas on this forum, but how should this work with Telnic not working?

using telfriends to keep some personal data private is pretty handy (for the multitude of website passwords/usernames we all gather along the way)...but its not on telnames.
it should be though, telnames is about storing important personal contact data (private too would be ideal)

anyway, apple has something of an auto-ready-password robot coming up
that will possibly be an alternate solution to storing private data online
