I was just following the trend when drawing the line (starting today).
If Telnic continues with the current strategy, I don't know how this trend could be stopped.

Before .tel will overcome its problems, some basics needs to be done:
    1. As a domain owner I don’t want to embarrass myself with the website design from Telnic. (Telnames is okay.)
    2. NOBODY should be satisfied with a website without substance (long / nice text and gadgets). The few Telnic / Telnames customers are newbies themselves without substantial knowledge about the internet.
    3. Nowadays EVERY domain provider offers an included mobile website - often for cheap (or for free). If Telnic wants to keep up with that, Telnic needs to provide an easy manageable control panel (including pictures and videos).
    4. The potential of Telnames is zero as long subdomains are not available. (As soon Telnames will introduce subdomains, not a single .tel at Telnic with the ugly design will ever be developed.)

I support the idea of developing .tels and make active marketing for it, but not as long I don’t see a product that is worth to be sold.

I don’t think the future will be that bad. Some beginners will always fall for .tel.
It’s more likely registrations will fall to 100,000 and will stagnate there.
And a lot of potential for .tel has never been used.
What if Telnic decides to start developing .tel? They have never done this so far.
If Telnic takes the job seriously in the future, it could change everything.

IMO they won't develop the Telnic subdomain .tel format any more !

If you read the statements made over the last year or so by the Chief Technology Officer of both Telnic and Telnames - Henri Asseily - it's pretty clear that he sees the future of .tel as a SINGLE-PAGE SINGLE POINT OF CONTACT domain as shown by the Telnames example http://YourBusiness.tel

I'm not worried about this. Everyone learns from mistakes; some faster - and others later.

Some technologies converge and some diverge. Point of contact... converge or diverge ?

    .tel has become so predictable!
My forecast from my first post is still in plan:

Last year I was too optimistic! The fall of .tel happens much faster:

Did I see it coming right three years ago?
