Adult will always get the most traffic, and people are using more mobiles now so that should increase but you should keep an eye on the 'return factor' vs 'content' as because .tel can only forward to content and has very limited space for dynamic content if you don't get it right those people won't return to see if theres more updated content links.
And you may think theres always another customer, but you want return customers especially with those daily googling your adult keywords, generic sex is in abundance but people like more specific stuff/topics/fetishes which makes long tail sub-domains useful.
I have one that I picked up as part of my keyword bracket, while it's disgustful to some I just know if it exists it exists and better I own it than someone else.
I never developed it correctly as it's hard for me to just go out and put my name to porn, how ever when it had only basic content it pulled in more than 100k visits in one year, now I get very little and to be honest I did try again to develop it but I get side tracked and I just don't care about it as I can't make any money and at the time the content I wanted to link to might have got me in trouble depending on where it was hosted. That's only because America was trying to change the rules on what you can link to not because anything I linked to was illegal in the first place.. Aka all that sopa and cispa and stuff... just put me off linking to anything..
