Nice work. is that a bar code? |
That's a QRCode. When read with a cell phone camera (and free QRC software), the cell's browser goes directly to www.kprobe.tel Mark |
QRCode. Very interesting. Where would one find QRCode's besides business cards? |
nice - is that software standard with phones or something you need to download? |

I posted these links in other threads some time ago, they show the benefits well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vS3R2u7sXA http://tel-card.com :) |

Both. It is supposed to standard for all in the near future. Here is another link I posted elsewhere some time ago from a leading company: http://get.beetagg.com/Default.aspx?lan=en&unknown=1 It is a popular download page for cell phone qr code readers. :) |
Create unlimited QRcodes using http://www.mobile-barcodes.com/qr-code-generator/ not just url but a complete vcard |

Here is another website from a leader that has everything: http://reader.kaywa.com :) |
Wiki on QRCode has background. We downloaded a free QRCode reader onto an HTC phone and snapped a picture of my card. The phone went directly to the website. I've seen QRCode on a realtor sign and have seen online on picture of products and tshirts. And of course tel-card.com. On google images you find them on beer cans, graves, signs, convention material. Mark |

Yes, I think the biggest global boost will come from Google use with its new phone. |
I'm using my QR code on both my MOO cards and my Twitter background also - http://yfrog.com/4g9qvgj - very easy to set up and use. |

I saw it on your Twitter page the other day. It can obviously be used anywhere, and as we posted, very easy to create. Obviously the intent of this thread was the tel Card showing the need for only 3 items when sharing offline: Name, .tel, qrcode. Much the same as Name and .tel, except that when one adds the qrcode and puts all on a one-time card, you now have a major benefit to the millions of .tel owners who can't quickly spell their .tel on a train window ! :) |
Here is the window: http://cappuccinomustache.blogspot.com/ . . |

Yes, exactly - The train window and the original example of offline use. Many of the .TEL addresses registered exceed the telephone number, so people find little or no value in a .TEL address once they see their first name is taken. After that, the commercial is useless to us, so, what's the point ? Well, of course their are many points, the first of course is that a name, word, or phrase is often much easier to remember than any telephone number, hence the use of 1800FLOWERS, etc. BUT using names, words, and phrases for just a telephone number is silly when you can use names, words, and phrases for a website and get everything, including a phone number, like amazon.com So, many people see the .TEL as an obsolete or useless effort because it represents TELEPHONE in its initial impression.... and then only matches website functionality in its secondary impression and use ... there which of course .TEL looks like an obsolete design. No one sees any advance or advantages by its first 2 major impressions, so they walk away without the "nuance" advantages ... who cares about those today ? _________________________ Simulating and Emulating an Address Book, .TEL has it's best advantages as "The Place To Start" for telephone use or website use. Unfortunately, .TEL has no TelPages "Book" like Google or YellowPages active, even in Beta after a year, so there is no "place to start", and the ENTIRE point of .TEL is missed again .... Strike 3 ... The idea has to be that .TEL is the place to BEGIN contact, rather than a website search engine. It also has to be the place to start, like a YellowPages style, BUT not necessarily just "Local". IT MUST SIMPLY BE ESTABLISHED AS THE PLACE TO START FOR EVERYTHING. THEN it has it's PRIMARY advantages, WITH the "nuance" advantages thereafter. Being much more cost effective than a phone book or a website, this will be easy, ONCE TELPAGES IS LAUNCHED as the place to start for everything. ____________________________________________ So, what will the process be ? A. Getting to TelPages (by advertising .TEL addresses offline to people) B. Using TelPages (because of popular adoption of .TEL addresses offline by people) HERE COMES THE PRIMARY POINT OF THIS LONG POST The QR Code revolution is a wave that Telnic can use to CATAPULT the use of .TEL and TelPages by using A. and B. above. INSTEAD of using a "ben.tel exception on train window", it should promote qr codes and offline cards as a synonymous use in order to LEAP FROG current "advances". By putting the two together, people automatically "see" the "quick response" idea that is EXACTLY what TelPages and .TEL domains are about. QR Codes are "Hub of Information" for quick response, hmmm. .TEL is a "Hub of Information" for quick response, hmmm. When I launched tel-Wings.com and the tel-Code putting these together with a tel-Card, I never dreamed it would take weeks or months for people to realize what a unique and timely advantage it was to put these two together. Mark Kolb figured it out and ordered a set of his own style. It's a "no brainer" that Telnic should be promoting heavily - that and the place to start of course, TelPages.com online. A. tel-Card instead of Ben.tel B. TelPages.com instead of ... nothing. Do EITHER exist in promotion or practice ? No. We see a commercial showing the advantages of A. and B., with nothing similar thereafter. Wow. |
As agreed in the other thread I've removed that duplication and also all the off topic comments in this thread. Can we please try and keep away from the bickering and on meaningful discussion regarding .tel. |
.Tel business cards are 50% off for a limited time at Zazzle. Use the code 2010BIZCARDS at checkout. http://www.nametag.me/images/kprobebuscard.jpg While you are visiting, check out the new .tel mugs. Great for promoting your site. Customize with your service or product and of course your .tel domain name. |
Nice initiative mark - i think this can really take off. How much are you charging for bulk orders? 500+ sets of 100 each? |

I don't make these, just set up a store. You would have to order via Zazzle.com and get their price. I created the QR code image generator script. But I did order 60 indestructible plastic cards for about $20 plus shipping. You get a higher discount when you order in larger quantities. Mark |
