    Html5 vs the proxy

Can HTML 5 be used on the proxy?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTML5

This is new and I have not looked in to it much, but I think if it's not going to make too much impact on the loading times it should be the target of the next proxy theme overhaul?

Perhaps maybe even let people have the ability to rearrange, drag and drop what links they like on our .tel and do away with links they don't? that wont effect what default anyone else can see but will allow them to come back time and time again to click through links they want and not be forced to see links they don't?

Like with Google search were you can star links or push them down your results, that could be in tel friends? or the ability to star links or .tels and build up their own personal most used .tel results.

    Ah I'm waffling on....

Anyway main question, can HTML5 be used on the proxy? and what impact would it have (design & speed) wise.

I think you should send your developer/coder to this http://2010.full-frontal.org/

    Bunjie,

Thank you for the suggestion. HTML5 will certainly play an important part in many web developments in the future. With regards to the proxy, one of the major benefits of HTML5 as I understand is that it focuses on replacing non-structured content with semantic markup, which we already try and do by offering structured information and implementing the hCard markup. It is also designed to replace heavy proprietary Flash-based technologies for rich content with lighter math-based alternatives. As our product is light and fit to work on any device connected to the internet, this again isn't relevant to the proxy.

As mentioned in the recent newsletter, we are currently focusing on developments to the control panel to introduce new features and simplify the management of .tels. Once this has been released during the early part of 2011 we shall revisit the roadmap to determine where the next focus will be.

    Thanks,

    Aled

Are you saying that there will be on new roadmap items completed until after early 2011?

    Aled09-08-2010 03:43 PM

    GoBigCity,

As mentioned in our most recent newsletter:

"Over the next few months, functional updates will be minimal while we focus on improving the user flow and delivering the new interface."

One of the updates that will be delivered during this period, however, is the new smartphone template.

Will this development phase place any potential marketing efforts on hold?

    spline09-09-2010 04:53 PM

Sorry but I fear the efforts are put in the wrong direction, I like the controlpanel as is and havnt heard any complain on it. I dont belive a better backend will help selling .tels at all currently.

However I hope I´m wrong and that its worth waiting until 2011 for new stuff and this is a necessary preparation for other feature functions and not a missdirected development effort.

TritonNW, marketing and technical development do not have a mutual dependency

may be Telnic should implement the html5 as this seems replacing the existing mobile applications in future..
