    PayPal Icon Empty PayPal Icon

    PayPal Icon

I like the new PayPal feature on Telnames.

It would be helpful for people using the "old version" of dot tel if a similar feature could accomplished more easily and elegantly.

Can somebody at Telnic add a PayPal Icon to the list of third party icons already shown at :-

    http://icons.yourname.tel/

    Thank You

    Mark Kolb (Kprobe)07-04-2013 03:32 PM

Yes good idea. And also the icon for V.me, Visa's new service.
    Mark

    boracay.tel07-04-2013 03:38 PM

    Please add paypal icon.
    Thank you

    Aled07-04-2013 04:13 PM

Thank you for the suggestion, Lostwithiel, To understand fully, would the link that the icon relates to then go to a PayPal store? Do you have any examples of .tel domains with such links, or otherwise examples of the links themselves as the icons are displayed through string matching.

    Mark Kolb (Kprobe)07-04-2013 05:04 PM

Aled, I think at minimum the easiest would be to detect paypal.com in the url and add the icon, just as you do with twitter, facebook, pinterest etc. eg at http://www.auroranow.tel/
    Mark

    Aled07-04-2013 05:28 PM

Thanks Mark, I know with some services the URL differs significantly, I just wanted to make sure that everyone is talking about a usage similar to that here - http://order.buildyour.tel/.

    MikeDow07-04-2013 05:54 PM

    Hi Aled

Agree with the above request for PayPal icon when linked to a Paypal begining URL - I also raised the same request recently regarding the TripAdvisor icon but with no reply from anybody.

Both these services are common links used by large sectors of commerce and tourism - probably more so than some of the current third party icons .

Your postive response is awaited - thank you

    tindaya07-04-2013 09:28 PM

and also add the icon and the protocol of bitcoin. you can put the address of bitcoin and if you push there, open the wallet.
I think must be very easy

    Lostwithiel07-04-2013 09:51 PM

    Thanks for response Aled,

My idea was that all links to paypal.com would be flagged with the PayPal logo (a smaller version of this)

http://www.userlogos.org/files/logos...pal-iphone.png in the same way that twitter and facebook logos are currently added to links to these sites.

Also it would be helpful to operators of travel and holiday directories if a TripAdvisor logo can be added at the same time.

If your http://order.buildyour.tel/ page had a PayPal logo against the link rather than a globe it would look much more professional :):)

    Thanks for your help,

    Regards,

    Keith

Can you see how ugly look that link to paypal, as Mark says icons for V.me and paypal will be very useful for all of us.
For me to avoid that ugly paypal link, I am using an image, V.me can be used now in many countries like Canada, USA, Germany, France, Spain and UK.

So, we will appreciate more icons, at the moment most people want paypal, nevertheless if telnic could give us a summer present by adding more icons, like v.me, travel, (tripadviser) etc.

    Thanking you in advance.

We would like to hearing from you a positive news.

    Kind regards

    Hector[/size]

Further to my endorsement of a Paypal icon and the adding of the owl TripAdvisor icon -

I have also noticed that with telnames a pdf logo can be generated ...

However with Regular/Pro .tels we only have the link to the regular website logo - so surely adding a .pdf icon would be easily implemented - provided the url ends .pdf

PayPal - TripAdvisor - PDF ...... just these 3 Icons linked to relevant urls will enhance many, many .tel domains.

We are awaiting your positive reply admin - thank you

Agreed, but it means you have used your top image for a Paypal button

The original discussion was about adding PayPal and TripAdvisor Icons as shown on

    http://icons.yourname.tel/

Okay that was the discussion ! I understand

    Hi Aled

Any news yet on the TripAdvisor, PayPal, PDF, - logo / icons ?

Please give some feedback - thank you

    Lostwithiel09-01-2013 06:40 PM

Wow! the tripadvisor logo now works:):) See http://trewithen.restaurants.where-to-eat-and-drink.lostwithiel.tel/

A very welcome improvement for holiday related dot tel sites. Wonder if any more logos (e.g. Paypal) have been added yet? I can't see any changes to http://icons.yourname.tel/

    Thanks Aled.

    Regards

    Keith

Yes - Good News Indeed - well done Aled / Telnic - a good sign that maybe - just maybe, some improvements can be implemented and customers requests are going to be listened to.

Keith - Having checked out both PayPal & PDF's no changes as yet :

Aled - if PayPal is a possibility - i did spot their site is always https ... therefore a secure site
So this would need to be taken into account if you can add their icon
PDF is obviously just any http with a dot pdf ending

Anyway thanks again for the tripadvisor addition - I'm sure the travel trade will be pleased.

Hi Guys - Just a bit of info for those in the travel trade - Lostwithiel - Boracay - etc

If you are planning to use the new tripadvisor icon with a link here's a tip :
Obviously to get the icon to appear your url link must start www.tripadvisor.co.uk or www.tripadvisor.com - so you cant use url shortening services like bitly etc

However the standard tripadvisor url's for its property/restaurant/review pages are rather long e.g

    http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaur...l_England.html

The good news is an undisclosed feature is that if you enter either :

    http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/g528852-d733003

    or

    http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Trewithen_Restaurant

They will work - show the tripadvisor icon & direct to your chosen page.

So to some up - to retain the nice new tripadvisor icon & have a shorter neater url link - either
Use the review reference number (in full) or use part of the name description ( must be unique) from the full url link.

Hope this is of some help to others -

    Good find Mike,

I didn't know about the short version of urls for TripAdvisor,

Yes I agree the long TripAdvisor url looks very unsightly on my dot tel page which gives details of the restaurant, especially when viewed on a mobile phone.

    Thanks again,

    Keith

    boracay.tel09-04-2013 01:48 AM

    Thanks Mike.
    Much appreciated.

Having looked from some distance (re .tel web directory limitations) am considering an entirely new approach (as primarily a landline based call centre). This to be automated via computer assistant (think Siri "how may I help you" , then back ending with .tel via soap for lookup, then "I have that number, will I connect you?"

Have been waiting on the short number.
Now have both short landline, and short .tel to match.

    Aled10-11-2013 02:11 PM

With regards to the PayPal icon integration, we've taken a look and currently, there are only four such links on any .tel domains. With so little usage on .tel domains of a link to Paypal it doesn't seem as though it is required at the moment, but should we see more usage in the future it's certainly something we'll reconsider.

    The futuro will be bitcoin

Web Icons - Any more news ?

Gosh its been quiet on here recently

I see the Scoot logo is now available, although it is not listed on http://icons.yourname.tel/

Also I have spotted there is a Yellow Pages logo for Egyptian Yellow pages but not for www.yell.com or www.yellowpages.com :):)

    See examples at http://pictures.groups.u3a.lostwithiel.tel/

A Yellow Pages logo would be helpful for people in UK. I assume it would be a very simple modification to convert UK and USA yellow page urls to work in the same way as http://www.yellowpages.com.eg

Wonder if there is anything else in the pipeline - possibly Thomson Local ?

    Regards,

    Keith
