    Just checked http://registrarstats.com/TLDDomainCounts.aspx for the latest .TEL registration figures and it gives for yesterday 9 August 2015:

    New: 14
    Removed: 32
    Transferred: 6,169
    Net Gain/Loss: -18
    Grace Period: 0
    Total: 122,391

    Anyone know who transferred this huge quantity of 6,169 .tel domains between registrars yesterday, and more importantly, WHY ?

    The webmaster of RegistrarStats.com should know what domains are included in that big number of transferred domains.

    Certainly it's worth to ask for a few examples to see who has such a big interest in .tel: info@registrarstats.com

    Perhaps because they got a cheaper deal for the bulk registration of their portfolio of this failed domain extension.

    I doubt that only one person alone owns so many .tel domains.

    I guess that a merger of domain registrars leads to an internal transfer for all their customers.

    Another reason could be the renaming of a domain registrar's brand or something similar.
