One month ago, .tel has become a normal domain extension like any other.

Do we still need a forum dedicated to .tel?

What's the difference to all the other nTLDs?

Yes, I agree with you, that since then TEL extension became not interesting at all.

I am glad that few years ago I made a right decision and for few my projects I had chosen COMs, but not TELs or one of the other new TLD.

    Yes, because of three reasons:

    1. .tel is the only domain extension that can store data in the DNS.
    2. .tel is the only domain extension that provides a nice template for free (previously Telnames).
    3. .tel is the only domain extension that represents telephone services with a generally known three-letter abbreviation.

This comes in addition to the use of .tel as a normal website!

@Tel - thanks for posting - saved me from stating the Bleedin' Obvious !

Though IMO Reason 1 is of no real interest to most users - it's Reasons 2 & 3 plus "Normal DNS" that are the most important factors.

It's not of interest at the moment, but .tel has still the potential to enter a new business area that isn't applicable yet.

The future is full of surprises! (Of course, without any guarantee.)

MAP should be fixed asap to actually WORK on an iPhone device.
cannot understand why this is not being resolved ASAP.

Or is it that NOBODY actually uses....

    1. The new Telhosting platform for a .tel AND...
    2. An iPhone to view the new telhosting .tels

    anybody confirm????

    @Boracay - I wouldn't hold your breath for this fix !

I have been trying since 28 March, when I submitted a Support email request to Telnic, to get a 10-minute coding update done i.e. to add automatic icon substitution for social media site Tumblr to those already existing for Facebook, Google+, Pinterest, Twitter, etc.

So far no joy, even though it's the sort of thing any programmer could do whilst having a cup of coffee. the software logic is already there, just need to add the URL for Tumblr and associated icon to the list of substitutions.

My gut feeling is that Telnic just doesn't have the staff (or money to recruit new staff) any more for such software changes to be actioned - or in fact any marketing at all of the .TEL extension since the 13 March changes !

Telnic know how to prove me wrong over my gut feeling - by ACTION on both your and my software requests and by PRO-ACTIVE MARKETING of the post-13 March .TEL extension !

They have no desire. And the general name of all what happens with TEL is incompetence.

Mike, I'm not asking for extras.

If it's not too much trouble to ask, could you turn on the map location in one of your own .tels (i.e. Using the newer telhosting .platform) and let me test your .tel using my iPhone? I'll snapshot you the result.

    Cheers

Boracay, I can confirm your problem:

Do we still need this? Img_0310

The same problem occurs on all .tel Domains that has the map enabled.

    Thank you.
    More reports are trickling in.
Also Not working on android devices.
This is specifically related to the latest telhosting system.

    Waiting on a fix.
