I have a domain I wanted to leave.

The domain expired on April 3, 2017.

I did not pay for the renewal. The Registrar Control Panel says "Expired"

110 days after expiration, the domain is still alive, whois says I'm still the holder and the deadline is now in April 2018.

    I wonder what happens.

The Registrar Webhosting24 is a Reseller of Own Identity. Could it be a misunderstanding between Webhosting24, Own Identity, and Telnames?

    The domain is silvanogarello.tel

Could it be connected with Telnames Ltd attempts to keep level of registrations artificially at 100 000 TEL pcs.?

It's not uncommon that registrars renew domains in case that the registrant doesn't renew the domain for himself. This happens often if it's a valuable domain and the registrar tries to sell it to other customers.

In this case, I guess that registrar paid the renewal fee by accident for you. Very probably, it was just a mistake and carelessness by the registrar.

Thanks maxi and x1y2 for your answers.

It will mean that I have to keep this domain for a year yet; but having not paid, it's okay!

Regarding the defensive level of 100,000 registrations, well, it has been broken for months.
In the .tel Monthly Registry Report released by Telnames for ICANN, records fall below 100,000 in October 2016 and in the last report (March 2017) there are 98010 registered .tel domains.
