    • No difference to more than 1,000 nTLDs
    • Less than 85,000 registered domains
    • No activity from the .tel registry or the .tel community

    I see some differences to other domain extensions:

    1. An optional website template from Telnames to publish a virtual business card without additional costs
    2. A free app to update this website
    3. The possibility to store contact information inside of the DNS (without use case so far)
    4. A domain forum dedicated only to this TLD: http://www.tel.community
    5. A big number of available premium domains for cheap prices
    6. Big interest in China in the early days of .tel

    I see one big difference of .tel to other top level domains:

    .tel is a generic term that can be used very well for telephone services.
