    E-mail from Telnames:
    [...]
Many thanks for your email received regarding the affiliate program here at Telnames.
    [...]
The affiliate program is only open at this time to UK based affiliates and whilst we will roll this out to the EU and US, this will not be for a few months. I will certainly be in touch as soon as we open the program up to your areas of operation.

    Kind regards

Why the delay for the EU and US ?

It's not as if they have to open overseas offices before an internet-based Affiliate Program can work.

Particularly surprised about a delay with the United States applications - the biggest English-speaking market in the world !

I had heard there would be delays outside the UK, but you're right, the only reason might be to put "Resellers" ahead of "Affiliates", hmmm.

    Many tasks:
    • Fixing prices in € and $
    • Creating revised versions for the video, publications and banners which are labeled for the UK
    • Upgrading the internal affiliate administration tools for foreign currencies, bank transfers and customers
    • Strategic planning
    • Setting up partnerships with affiliate networks
    • Updating Telnames' website for customers outside the UK and with different languages (French, German, Spanish)

    and so on

    @Expert

Re: Allowing US affiliate applications NOW !

You seem to be forgetting Telnames are using an Affiliate software package - not writing the code from scratch !

Do you really think they would have selected such a package which didn't cater for USD as well as GBP ?

As for modifying the videos - I really believe our American cousins can understand UK English !

The most important thing now there is some momentum from Telnames is to build it up rapidly - not wait for 100% perfection before expanding to the United States.

Hang around for too long with an internet idea and someone will beat you to the marketplace.

It's called FIRST MOVER ADVANTAGE - it's not always the best product that ends up dominating - but one that gets to mass market acceptance (my friend's got that, I wan't it as well) quickly and provides enough of what users want at a price they consider fair.

It's taken Telnic 3.5 years to get to this point - any further delay in worldwide marketing is simply not a good idea - even if it means working evenings and weekends to make your internet dream happen !

You're right, still doesn't make that much sense for English-speaking countries, the currency exchange is usually taken care of in the affiliate software.

Videos, if foresight wasn't obvious, still shouldn't be any different than the "train video". What country was that ? Right, shouldn't be an issue, banners either.

Still, "dotting the i's and crossing the t's" is a breath of fresh air. Certainly beats the "haste makes waste" policies we've seen. Well, hasty decisions, not hasty provisions anyway.

Here's the Affiliate software being used by Telnames to run their program - http://www.qualityunit.com/postaffiliatepro

Looks pretty good - have just applied and will see what happens.

Only downside to the application process is that you can only enter 1 URL - I chose http://Domains123.tel but would liked to have added http://UK.BoatSearchEngine.com as well - a site visited by just the sort of buyer Telnames is targeting.

But thought it best to specify my domain sale site if only 1 URL was allowed.

Note to myself - must replace the links to the 2 Telnic (old subdomain style) .tel videos on http://Domains123.tel with the latest Telnames one if accepted !

If I open Telnames.com in the EU now, I get the following price indication: €18.95 (instead of £14.95).
Welcome to the rest of Europe, Telnames!

Then it would be best to buy in America:
    £14.95 = $23.93
    €18.95 = $24.49

Good that Telnames has published international prices before the television campaign will start next week.

I remember reading the TV ad will be shown (in the UK) on Sky and other digital channels next week - does anyone know what these "other" channels are and/or when the ad is scheduled to run ?

I asked recently in two Russian forums for domainers and developers of web-sites, have anyone there registered his TEL from Telnames?

Though I already guess what the answers there will be, but nethertheless I am waiting for answers there, and later I will announce about results of that mini-poll.

I expect not many Telnames customers will be found in domain forums, because the common registrants are small businesses who don't spend time talking about their websites on those places.
It’s the opposite at Telnic, because their customers are mainly domainers.
