A few weeks back my window cleaner was asking me all about them.
Here's one of many video ads for New gTLDs being targeted at the mass public in the UK - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CySypCi1_iw

Welcome to the objective forum for .tel domains! Read it first when anything is happening with .tel!

http://registrarstats.com/TLDDomainCounts.aspx has .CLUB at No. 3 today, just behind .BERLIN and 11K+ behind the New gTLD leader .GURU
But an excellent performance nonetheless - no doubt helped by the .CLUB guys decision to take expert advice re domain mass marketing !

I would imagine that .CLUB is the most likely of the New gTLDs to break 100K.
It's so universal - think of all the clubs in a country - then think of how many countries there are !
I wonder if the owner of uk.club has plans to sell subdomain registrations in the same way that uk.com does ?

I don't think that country code registrations will ever be valid at .club since they're reserved by ICANN rules as unregisterable for most tlds, but I am sure that there will be the selling of subdomains in various .club domains of many types.

UK.com did well then to get this domain registered and sell through these registrars
To most users a domain name in the format xxxxxx.uk.com - technically a subdomain - will be thought of as a normal domain name.
I used to have a UK.com domain myself - and also a US.com - until I acquired the .com itself and no longer needed them.

.club continues to pull away from the pack at number 1, but .xyz has jumped onto the board and is now at number 4.

Many are claiming that .xyz is not for real, and that most registrations are just tens of thousands of premium domains that are registered by the Registry itself. A whois lookup for many domains confirms this is true, but they are playing the game well for now ...

The new gtld race is on to 200,000 registrations.

.xyz is approaching 200,000 registrations fast.

.xyz passes the 250,000 registration mark, how high will it go?

There is a chance — however slight — that .tel will succeed. Telnic will have to do a few things perfectly to get this to work. First, make .tel integrate into third party applications better than Plaxo, LinkedIn, Facebook, and MySpace currently do. Second, it should give away .tel domains to individuals and hope to make money on businesses instead. It must get to critical mass quickly, so that I have a reasonable belief that typing in myfriend.tel will get me what I want. Third, it needs to pray that Facebook doesn’t kill it overnight by creating some sort of online vcard.
