Google Mobile AdSense Click-To-Call Has anyone else noticed on their mobile phones recently the Google Click-To-Call ads? I was viewing TelDial Mobile site http://domains123.teldial.com on my Android phone and an ad came up on a 320x50 banner.. You could either press the Call button initially, or press the "return" symbol which then pulled across the banner 2 options to choose from - "View Ad" and the Call button again. It really is slick and I can well imagine a lot of phone calls being made from mobiles with these Google ads - I believe Google pays the same AdSense rate to the publisher regardless of what is clicked. I can see this Google Click-To-Call being a good revenue generator for anyone with a mobile site, including .tels of course once the current issue with displaying Mobile AdSense ads (see http://telnic.org/forum/showthread.php?t=2233) is resolved. I'd like to see this happen to .tels as quickly as possible. |
Yesterday I noticed something on a Google Mobile AdSense 320x50 ad that I hadn't seen before - the ad was just "Click-To-Call" - no optional link to a web site, just the telephone call symbol. I expect we will see a lot more of the "Click-To-Call Only" mobile ads from Google - this makes a lot of sense to small businesses since: 1. Many existing Google Mobile AdSense ads take the user to a full-blown web site, rather than one written for optimal display on the different sizes of mobile phone screens. 2. There is obviously a better chance of converting a user to a paying customer if you are speaking to them rather than they are just anonymously browsing your web site. With Google charging the same cost-per-click whether the click leads to a phone call or a web site, it does look as if Google's Click-To-Call Only has a bright future - particularly with local small businesses where personal contact is so important. Where does .tel fit in with this Click-To-Call expansion by Google ? Mike Seaton |
