Reporting about my first experiences to sell .Tel domains to companies . http://www.c-drew.com/blog/wp-conten...est-grenko.jpg Reporting about my first experiences to sell .Tel domains to companies: Selling .Tel's with sales letters plus phone calls: 1.) A sales letter has to be good and successful. 2.) Email sales letters do not get much, or any attention. 3.) Email sales letters get overseen, or not forewarded to responsible person within the company network. 4.) Emails sometimes land in the spam mail box, and never get seen and read. 5.) Follow up your email sales letter by a phone call, and you might find out the following: 6.) The email might have the wrong email address (wrong departement). 7.) The email might be addressed to the wrong person. 8.) Send or foreward your sales email a second time, to the right person and departement. Conclusion: The follow up phone call, is a must. Because you are able to make the responsible persons read your email sales letter, at last, and digg it out of their unread emails. Some companies, simply say, they are not interested, because they already have a website with contact information, etc., and quasi say: „period!“, before you get any chance to explaine. Some responsibles say, that the company already has a webmaster and webdesigner, which is why they actually don't need another one... Then you can counter arguement with some strong arguements, saying that .Tel is a new product and very beneficial for the company, etc. Final thoughts: At the end, at least you get the company to read your sales letter and to study you attached ducuments about the Dot Tel domain. They will either contact you back, if they „get it“, or you might have to make a follow up contact again. Well, after all that struggle, you might want to give the companies a trial period first, before telling them the price. However, it is a backbraking process, to get a company interested in .Tel, if they had never heard about it before. And it may take more time, then you hope and expect, to see some cash. The new improvements for designing Telproxy, will make it that little bit easyer to present a decent looking .Tel site for the company, to give them a idea. Once you sold the .Tel site, you can transfer the domain, without having to loose the data and configuration (restore function, etc.). If you give up, you'll never make a sale: Only sellers with stamina, will be successful. I just tried to sell about 10 .Tel's, and I feel like a wounded soldier, bashed up, but still alive, and a bit frustrated. But the show must go on. (How much can you ask for your .Tel site?: Sometimes, $1500 is the maximum, to avoid a dispute. If there happens to be more then one existing company with the same name, you can charge more. I would ask for maximum $3600, if it is basically peanuts for a company. For all other types of genric sites, I guess that companies might approach you, rather than you approach them. As it may be otherwhise a lot of wasted time, with fruitless attempts to sell.) Sales adventures: http://www.c-drew.com/blog/2009/11/1...ock-high-noon/ Edit: I just got a reply from a very prestigious restaurant/bar in Zurich: Quote: "Besten Dank für die Zustellung der Unterlagen. Ich habe diese gelesen und zu der Überzeugung gekommen, dass dies nicht unseren Vorstellungen entspricht. Marketing gibt es auf so viele Möglichkeiten. Ich bin überzeugt, dass es sicher für andere Betriebe sinnvoll ist Aber nicht für uns." ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Google translation: "Thank you for the service of documents. I have read this and come to the conclusion that this does not correspond to our ideas. Marketing there are so many possibilities. I am convinced that it is certainly useful for other businesses But not for us." Cheers, and long live .Tel! . |
Sehr angenehm. Mit freundlichen Grüssen" ------------------------------------------------------ Google Translation: "Thank you for your time, my letter, and to the documents . Read The Dot Tel side, is less than one for your needs Marktiginstrument thought, but as a help for your guests to contact your local, and to make reservations.
