.mp is the internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Northern Mariana Islands.
In September 2008 domains with the extension .mp have been started to be promoted in 2 ways:
1.) Two official registry sites at nic.mp and get.mp where .mp domains cost $20 per year.
2.) Chi.mp's parent company Saipan DataCom has a long term contract with the Northern Mariana Islands to run the service chi.mp, a content hub and identity management platform which provides .mp domains and websites. Domains could be registered for free.
The concept of .mp was similar to the one from Telnic / Telnames: Included service for customizing of websites and providing a social hub for all contacts of the website owner.
When taking a look at .mp today you will find out almost all resources are canceled and the customer’s websites at .mp are not working since months anymore.
The free website owners have never been informed about the cancelation of this service. They just have lost their domains!
