I wanted to do so, but decided to leave some 10-15. The number is not big to cause financial problems. But who knows, may be one nice day Telnic with all it's one-and-a-half men team will rest in peace and then TEL will get its second chance? And then it could be like if you had throwed away a good lottery ticket.

I reduce my TELs naturally: if I see one dropping really good TEL, then I take it but at the same time I drop two of my old TELs.

So, psychologically there is no stress of losing something good, but there is a joy of obtaining something better. At the same time the number of my TELs is falling down naturally, so and the troubles are falling down also. : )

Would it be better to buy one really good two-keywords COM in the sрhere, which is interesting for you, and develop it?

I personally do not belive in new extentions. That .MP was an example what will be the end of them all.

TEL, imho, was the only one of them which could succeed because it was unique.

Very good and wise strategy. I like it!

To buy and develop good keyword domains under .com, a lot of money would be required.

    Another aspect is the following:
When choosing a domain name, one of the most important criteria is the combination of keywords.
New domains could support a business very well by representing it, e.g. family.attorney or children.store.
It's not so easy to find this usage for .tel domains.

Of course, the right choice of domain name is the essence.

For two-words COM it is not always a very big lot of money. It is possible to find something good in a range between 300-3000$.

This year I bought for myself Portrait-Artist. It was somewhere in the middle by that price range. So now, after spending all my money on it, for few months I will need to eat less. ; )

It is two-keywords COM domain with a dash and so it is the second choice option, of course, but it is COM, the king extension.

I could bought, for example, single keyword Portrait_mp (which is still free in a day of today and is available for 100$ reg. fee + 20$/year renewal price) or use my TEL for building there a regular site, but I decided that I do not want to sacrifice many years of my life explaining people what does it mean that dotMP or TEL, and also to spend the same number of years of blaming Google that he do not want to show my regular non-COM-website at his first pages.

As for developing (building) a website, the costs should be the same for all normal (regular) websites and do not depend is it COM or another extension. Website on COM may have that advantage that Google (imho) ranks sites credibility depending also and on the extension. And here COM should have much grater credibility than newTLDs. And because of that you will need to spend less work and money promoting COM site in Google.

    It maybe, of course.

But there is also a big possibility that when you will say to somebody "my site's name is family.attorney or children.store", then that person later instead of it will look for your site in his default extension (i.e. COM): FamilyAttorney_com or ChildrenStore_com.

Also, who knows will such domains look good in eyes of Google?

You are right. As long the public isn't used to the new domains, internet users will confuse the right spelling.
But that is just a matter of time. New domains will be very common in a few years. Then this problem will disappear.

Google is indexing the new domains as good as .com. New domains won't have any disadvantages.

Have you searched for consultation before this purchase?
You have disobeyed one important rule for domain names: never register domains with dashes!
All your development effort will be support for the site portraitartist.com.

I know that domains with dashes are second choice option - please, look at my post above.

For a global project, like MasterCard_com and etc., I would surely not take domain with a dash; but for my little business - why not? It is easy to remember and contains the exact description of the business - no less words then necessary, no more.

For two words domains there is also another important rule: if you want to do a project on your two words domain, then do not let the domain with a dash to your rival, because then it will be he who will take a part of your traffic. : )

You are not wrong. Your domain name fits exactly the purpose of your intended website - and that is a good thing.

And one thing is much more important than only the domain name:
    It's hard work!

The domain name is only one piece of many for the success of a website.

Yes, I agree - it is so, without any doubt.
