Yes but I'm still no fan of the theme they could have done better as it looks like a remake of the old one they designed, it's got no flare and no creative design it's just a plain card, they ran the theme contest if you remember and that proved we could have had better so I can't believe .tels need to be this restrictive if you're giving up 30,000 records and 3000 sub domains in return for a proxy that has to feed 1 page, that is way less traffic and running costs and should have allowed greater design flare not to mention html5.

Also due to not having sufficient sub domains and the 'cost' of telnames atm until more people sign up and it drops to a more normal rate (like new gTLD and country domains cost when new), most 'businesses' will go for telnames vs individuals and employees not sponsored by their company will be using something like name.com that's a cheaper alternative.

So if telnic want to build on telnames either they need to introduce a version of sub domains for promoting employee contact information around the brand, up to 5 would be sufficient with a play on the same theme but that is more personal or they need a sister theme for the standard proxy that somewhat matches the telnames one but without the added features and more emphasis on an individual as an employee of company X.Y or Z.

So that when a small business brand 'on telnames' links to it's low ranking employee for 'sales' or 'assistant' etc it wont look strange to a customer vs the site they were just on for the brand.

Nothing is worse than loosing brandability when linking to staff or another of your sites? the proof is in the pudding with custom branded clothing for staff inRL and so should it be the same policy and approach inTELife.

So yes telnic need to grant a modification of this theme to everyone to make sure smaller business buy into telnames as a brand feature site, and then it maintains some form of cross branding for companies who can't afford to give 40 lower ranking staff premium .tel domains just to maintain some brandability when linking to them.

After all .tel was touted as good for small business, and start-ups! or is it now just a 1%'er country club of corporate executives based around a telnames brand?

Yes the background image does improve the presentation of a .Tel domain on a PC/Laptop/Tablet.

Add in the ability to load a Video, up to 5 Images, and a Coupon Offer quickly and easily via the User Control Panel and you can see the appeal to small businesses and 1-man traders.

Downside of course is the lack of subdomains which prevents long-tail SEO, but to be honest do the millions of users that http://www.Telnames.com is targeting really have the time or inclination for that ?

I think the Telnames template as shown by http://YourBusiness.tel does the job it set out to do - can't imagine there will be much change to it in the future.

It's time for Telnic/Telnames to focus on Worldwide Marketing - forum members are no doubt ready to help with this on a commission basis !

Absolutely!

In the past .tel members have done promotion even voluntary!

Unfortunately viral marketing hasn't gone around during the last 3,5 years.

The remarkable effort of Webnames.ca, Digitrad.com & others in the year 2009 hasn't continued, either.

Therefore without outstanding actions from the main providers (Telnic / Telnames), time will just pass by.

But unfortunately the marketing effort for Telnames seems to be limited to the maintenance of the blogs on Tumblr and Pinterest. Surely that won't be enough!

Since the coding (which stretches the loaded background picture to the screen size whatever it is) has already been developed and tested with the Telnames template, it should take no more than 1-2 days to add it into the Telnic templates.

So any reluctance to undertake this simple enhancement to the Telnic templates, so often requested by forum members, must be viewed as strategic rather than practical, i.e. a marketing decision not to make the Telnic templates more desirable.

Companies often do this with older products, i.e. deciding not to offer desired enhancements, to encourage users to switch to the newer version (with the increased revenue that brings).

What other reason could there be for a failure to undertake 1-2 days work to satisfy a much requested enhancement by your existing users ?
