The ownership of a domain would cost only $1 yearly.
This would be great! Now too much money goes on renewals of few my TELs.

By that plan now we should have that tariff in the red:
TelTalk wrote:Calculated fee level for .tel domain registrations

    • Year 1: $10
    • Year 2: $8
    • Year 3: $6.5
    • Year 4: $5.5
    • Year 5: $5.25

Instead, we have perspective to get tariff of $40 for one Telnames TEL.

The only way I'd pay $40 for one tel is if they put in monetary transactions between tel owners aka wallets, therefor it becomes a fee justified for being "trade active", as long as they also build some kinda warehouse for items we sell, so we can trade goods between each other and off load old stock/craft/trade/tools & materials etc in bulk to other businesses who might want it and not just with the public it should be worth it.
    .
Though if not and it's just a price hike for the sake of making profit then I might as well just walk away, though I may just keep 2 out of spite so they can't hike the price and get rid of me because you never know.
    .
Idk where you get this $40 price from as I think I missed reading a few posts.

Nice list of scenarios in your blog Alex, but they won't work without CRITICAL MASS !

And you don't help to achieve "critical mass" by Telnames increasing prices nearly 67% from £14.95 ($24.08) to £24.95 ($40.19) - with the possible knock-on effect of Telnic registrars feeling they can get also away with increasing the prices of Telnic .tels !

So the logical conclusion has to be that Telnic/Telnames is no longer attempting the Phase 2 (dial/email/skype/etc by name) part of the .tel project - and has instead decided to go after the "instant mobile site builder" market ?

Problem with this of course is that there are numerous existing competitiors, including major players like Google, and there are a lot of established Free offerings !

But you have a big advantage at Telnames. You save a lot of time, because you don't have to fill 3000 subdomains as at Telnic!
