When .tel will be successful?

Agreed on all, you have hit the major points right on the nose !

1. first release from Telnames is quite impressive (enough to drive quality, .tel purpose-driven registrations)

2. Telpages needs wide updates ( this is the single biggest factor missing since day 2 )

3. Partnerships are needed ( if 1. and 2. above are accomplished, potential partners will see enough participation to care )

4. Reactivation of the social network idea which hasn't been used so far ( very important, but if it's missing, at least it's not enough to prevent 1. 2. and 3. above in the meantime )

Can someone please expand on "Reactivation of the social network idea"? With OpenID enabled for all .Tel domains, the ability to Login with your .TEL is possible if implemented by a social application or platform. What other social implementations will propel .TEL?

BTW, does this forum support OpenID as a login option? If so, you could login with any .tel domain you own. Blogger supports .Tel via OpenID.

Yes you can. OpenID with .Tel has been around for a couple of years but NOBODY knows about it. I just posted some hockey comments in a couple of blogger sites and used my .Tel site for validation. Goes to Telnic for credentials then posts your comment. Awaiting moderation so can't show you yet. Works work with Telnames ID's also.

Wow, place this information or a .tel login button right on top of the landing page of Blogger and you will have ten or hundred thousands of people reading about .tel the very first time. Can you imagine the emerging interest?

Who ?

Many know they tried, unsuccessfully, to gain a following, but failed miserably, that's the whole point.

No one knows, or cares to know, about anything other than what Telnic people are doing, and that isn't exactly a success either, but at least people know TelPages exists.

I know that there were, and are, many who have their own thing going, and so the "who ?" was a rhetorical question.

Point is this of course, if Yellow Pages, Yelp, Facebook, all told people to sign up for a listing or page and then expected someone else to provide the directory, those 2nd party directories would be largely unsupported too.

If Telnic/Telnames chooses to act responsibly and comes up with a quality directory for .tel, then they will have a quality chance that will be supported just like those other efforts that we all know.
