Apple .tels Noticed some defensive .tel registrations by Apple Corp today. 1800aplcare 800myapple etc |
25 of them, none resolving it seems. Should at least point them to apple.tel Mark |
Yes, have been registers by apple, what is going on here, is apple planing some things with .tel Cross fingers and hope they are. Buy why only .tel and not .co or net etc. |

Possibly apple are planning something - but maybe of greater significance for the expansion of dot tel is the registration of Telnames with Thomson Local branding at the bottom of the site. eg http://kitsons-solicitors.tel/ registered on 21st October. https://img.telnames.com/img/thomson.png Regards, Keith |
Someone could inform them that myApple.tel is still available. Easier to dial than 800myapple. Maybe Telnic could let them know before someone squats on it. |

400 or so reg'd. Good to see another VAR actively selling. They are now getting populated, with linking to main site. Good for SEO. http://csbuildingdesign.tel/ -> http://www.thomsonlocal.com/CS%20Bui...3980000028028/ Mark |

Who said they were selling them? |

I agree - ThomsonLocal aren't selling these .tels. If you look at a few you will see that they have been automatically populated from the main ThomsonLocal entry - nothing wrong with that of course - and that the ownership of the domain is not by each business being advertised. For example check out http://kitsons-solicitors.tel and the ownership details at https://www.easywhois.com/?domain=ki...solicitors.tel You will see the registrant is "Administrator" with no contact details at all. The Short Format of the Whois is used which is reserved for Personal registrations. The Long Format of the Whois (ie. with contact details) is mandatory for Business registrations - which this obviously is - I believe ICANN insisted on this when they gave Telnic the short format dispensation for personal .tels ! |
Here's a link to .tels with a connection to "ThomsonLocal" - https://www.google.com/#q=site:*.tel+%22thomsonlocal%22- 426 in total as of today. Checking out ther first page of results gives quite a few sites that appear not to have been generated using the automated procedure identified eg. http://lovelytrees.tel/ and http://xpeartcleaning.tel/ |

ThomsonLocal have 25,900,000 pages indexed in Google UK - see https://www.google.co.uk/#q=site:thomsonlocal.com Not sure how many of these are system pages as opposed to individual business detail pages, but it seems there is the potential to add a few million business .tels if the same procedure is followed directory-wide for automatic .tel generation. Any chance Telnames is going to announce such a deal - or are these automatically generated .tels just a one-off ? |
