    @TelFan - what is the source URL for this ?

    http://www.dottel.net shows Total Domains for 6 Jan 2013 as 239,901 (dottel.net always uses today's date when listing yesterday's figures) - the first time in recent history that the total has slipped below 240,000.

    The underlying trend for .tel domains (despite the recent TV campaign) is obviously relentlessly downwards - see:

    A good gain yesterday, presumably influenced by this forthcoming event ?

    For some reason there is still a discrepancy with the Total Domains shown by http://www.dottel.net for yesterday as 239,963 rather than 240,498 from your source.

    NB. Dottel.net as mentioned previously always puts today's date (8/1) against the total figures for yesterday (7/1).

    I think that I wrote too small number of pro-TELs (TELs with Telnic templates). If there exists no other registrars with their own template (like TelChina and Telnames), then the right number should be something like this:
    240,344 - 74,033 - 5,949 = 161,352


    Then:

    pro-TEL 161,352 (?)
    TelChina: 74,033
    Telnames: 4,959

    the total number of IDN
    registered in all of these
    groups is 80,271

    Dottel.net shows 434 newly registered .tel for yesterday (instead of 124), but most counted .tel by dottel.net from yesterday have been registered in 2009 already.

    Dottel.net is catching up to reach the same numbers as published here.
    Perhaps Dottel.net has missed some registrations in the past.

    developed is the wrong wording; they have only one page
    i would say they are filled with data, but it's impossible to develop a telname because you can put only very little data inside
    perhaps more telnames will be sold when telnames will charge £10 more per telname tomorrow

    No, Telnames has been online all the time. The low number is caused by the weekend only.
