Re: Groundbreaking crash at Telnic
@Tim - do you have a URL link for a reliable source of this stat - surely a mistake ?
Now that http://www.dottel.net has gone perhaps Mark Kolb could double check this figure using his resources ?

It's time to invest in .name: This domain extension will outperform .tel soon.

Re: Groundbreaking crash at Telnic
@Tim - I find a reduction of 25,912 .tels in one day hard to believe - it's obviously not natural wastage - seems as if a whole sector of .tel registrations is not being counted - maybe a registrar going bust or dropping .tel ?
I do hope Mark Kolb is able to clarify this through independent checking - I seem to remember he had a software program to check the Total .Tel figures at any time.

Hold on tight!
If all domains at TelChina will drop now (registered in January 3 years ago), then we are at 100,000 in a few days.

mikeseaton wrote:I do think that selling-off the Telnic Registry would make many people in the .tel project happy (or less miserable !):
- The Telnic Shareholders (at least they'd get some of their money back).
- The Telnic Directors (their main interest seems to be Telnames these days).
- The Telnic Registrars (it couldn't be worse than the current situation where they're not allowed to sell the only version of .tel being actively marketed i.e. Telnames).
- The .Tel Developers (a new owner of the Telnic Registry couldn't do less for Telnic subdomain .tels than currently happens - unless they dropped them !).
- The .Tel Domainers (who want the .tel name spread far and wide which a new owner of the Telnic Registry would no doubt aim to do).
IF the 25,912 drop in one day figure is correct, and I do stress IF, the above bolded comment I posted earlier today is even more true !

About 50 percent of all .tel domains were dissolved (calculated from the peak).

Re: Groundbreaking crash at Telnic
It's a real shame that Telnic - the company that wanted to change the way the world communicates - feels unable and unwilling to communicate with it's own customers on the most active .tel forum of TelTalk !
If they did post here, they could state:
a) The drop of 25,912 .tels in one day is a wrongly calculated statistic.
OR
b) The drop of 25,912 .tels in one day is correct - it happened for this reason - and this is our plan to recover from it.
It's surely the job of Justin Hayward - who has the title "Business Development and Communications Director for Telnic" - to deal with this issue from a PR perspective asap ?

Re: Groundbreaking crash at Telnic
Telnic lost the voice years ago.
I assume this is the reason for the drastic drop:
http://www.whatsyourtel.com/t15p24-tel-registration-numbers#195
So watch the drops during the following days closely.
I expect 50,000 more drops very soon.
We will settle below 150,000 total registrations - for the moment.

All drops of TelChina together will be about 70,000 domains:Toptel wrote:If all domains at TelChina will drop now (registered in January 3 years ago), then we are at 100,000 in a few days.

Telnic (including Telnames) comes closer to no earnings at all (per year).

Telnic had decided to persist without the involvement of the customer and must now survive without customers. Logical development!
