How to tell Tel owners about this forum I've just been chatting with someone who has created some very nice tel sites with high stats already and doesn't even know about tel forums and the great information within. Would it be possible for Telnic as the registry to email all tel owners about this valuable resource? If it is against some rule, how can we let tel owners to stop by and visit? What kind of official promotion can be done to stimulate interest in the tel world? Out of tens of thousands of tel owners worldwide, the population in any forum is miniscule. |
We'd rather not spam hundreds of thousands of domain owners with emails about a resource that may not be relevant for them, especially if they don't speak English. Owners of .tel domains are under no contractual relation with Telnic, and never opted in to stay informed about .tel. Your comment is valid in that we need to promote the forum more. You can also suggest that registrars email their clients about this forum - together with other news that the registrar or Telnic provide. We are also thinking of creating a subsciption on Telnic's site for those who wish to stay up to date with latest .tel development. We can then send emails like the one you're suggesting to them. |
There are graudually more and more people joinig the forum. But as with many forums you get loads of people who join but never post and just use them to keep up with all the latest chat. Hopefully more people will eventually join in the discussions. Gav |

You are dead right Mark there are so many .tel domains that are parked and I suspect the owners have no intention of doing anything with them at all. I notice that many still just have the registar e-mail on because they cannot even be bothered to change that. Like you pointed out Mark there needs to be more people developing or getting more involved otherwise it really is not helping the .tel at all, and for these people who was expecting a good profit from resale of there .tels will become really negative and start moaning about them and the lack of debelopment ect, but really it will be there fault as they are the ones that have not developed there .tel or got involved more to help bring the best out in them within forums and the marketplace. I also post on other forums in the .tel threads and some of the negative thoughts that people are having regarding the .tel in the last few days is quite worring because I know that if I was new to them and after seeing posts like what people have written, I would stay well away. I really hope that is away to get more people involved, and well done on starting this topic Mark, it was just what the doctor ordered. Gav |
Just to re-confirm, we actively talk to registrars to help them promote .tel domains and assist existing customers in populating them and getting all the benefits. Please don't assume nothing is being done. Telnic is as vigilant with registrars as we are with the .tel community. We also rely on our community to talk about .tel. A word from a friend or an independent favorable blog post can bring more relevance than an impersonal branded mass email from a company. You should place link to forum somewhere on your main page or community page. Now it is not so easy to find it: Home -> .tel community -> Ask and .tel -> .tel Forum Structure of the page is very good, but with so much info it's hard to find it :). |

Hello Sandman - have you signed up to enable Friending for your domain(s) at Telfriends.org? Once you have signed up and associated your .tel names, you should then be able to use TelStats. If you are having issues with TelFriends please let us know at telfriends-support@registry.nic.tel. |

Sandman, are you able to log into TelFriends with the credentials you are using? If so, it's likely that the secret answer you are using may be incorrect. I can have this reset if you mail your TelFriends username, .tel domain name and email address to telfriends-support@registry.nic.tel. |
