more mapping questions Hello again Telnic. 1. I would like to know if the coming CTH beta will have an option for us to set an alternative maps engine to google. (such as "openstreetmaps" or even "bing") 2. will there be an option, a template, or possibly a new contact item that could show a small low resolution glimpse of the map already opened, such as.... https://files.me.com/boracay/tgr7sp Sorry to beat a dead horse here, but google maps is a shop of horrors. The maps function of .tel is extremely important. the reliance on google rendering is bordering on disaster for showing resorts and businesses on boracay.tel (and probably for many other locations that google maps cares less about) Aled, if you could please, just a quick answer to 1. and 2. thanks in advance. |

Boracay, sorry, yes I missed the initial post. With regards to your post, no, these requests will not be met by the redesigned CTH redesign, but we do understand your concerns, which have also been raised by .tel users in Russia, where Google Maps coverage is also very poor. We are looking at how in the future it could be possible, either automatically depending on region, or through the owner's choice, to allow the map that is used to be changed. This is at a very early analysis stage, however, and as a result not yet on the roadmap. |
I will proceed with Boracay.tels plans to use snapshots of openstreetmaps and completely avoid the google mess. This all to be done via imageAds with imageads links forcing a jpeg map into a new window for each and every resort and business (a lot of work obviously. Henri once used openstreetmaps via a simple toggle? Seemed easy enough before) Ok. Thank you for the reply Aled |
