I have noticed it too.

Lot of people (Domainers) purchased .tel, just like they did with other TLDs, in the beginning for investment. Most of them have now realized what is actually .tel meant for and its uniqueness, and of course its limits. There are many registered .tel names, registered for the sake of popular (SEO) strings of keywords. They are good for content management or some other purpose. And these .tel names will not serve the core purpose of the .tel. Obviously, the .tel cannot serve their (tel Owners) purpose either.

As a result, these investors will probably drop their tels in March. So, dropping .tel in large numbers in March this year or any day doesn't mean the end of the .tel.

I think end of March this year will be the new beginning of the .tel.

I am eagerly looking forward to see to get rid of these unwanted .tels.
These unusable .tel domains are the main cause for new comers (new registrants) to think twice.

Cheers!

I have to say I did some of that in the beginning - buying names in the hope of a quick resale (I was new to the game) After all this time, I will be happy to drop some pretty useless .tels I bought, while continuing to build out those which work well, and are bringing in regular ad revenue. The less empty .tel sites out there, the better...
