    Icons & Keywords

It would be nice if we could change the icons and the keywords label. Sometimes the icons don't match up and when I use free text the keywords label doesn't fit with what I am doing. If I could customize them both it would be a plus.

Bing & Google icons not generated

Checking out the new automatically generated icons I noticed on my search engine page http://searches.mikeseaton.tel that Yahoo has its icon generated OK, but Bing and Google don't - can these be added please?

The icons are automatically generated by Telnic software looking at the URL you have entered for the web page and seeing if it has an icon stored for that site to replace the standard web globe.

Two examples are for Yahoo at http://searches.mikeseaton.tel and Twitter at http://twitter.mikeseaton.tel

As for the purpose, it makes important sites like Yahoo and Twitter stand out - hence my comment that Bing and Google should also have icons.

    Thanks Mike
I appreciate the info. There has been a lot to digest in the last 48 hours. Keep up the good work

The icons are a really nice feature as they vastly improve the appearance of pages. It looks really bland to see a whole column of world icons, for example.

There does need to be many more icons added, to suit the needs of all users. As Mike has pointed out, there's no support for google.co.uk, google.com, etc.; something that would be nice when linking to Google Reader shared stories, for instance.

Here's a list of services I think should be supported:

    • Twitter
    • Flickr
    • Facebook
    • Yahoo
    • Google
    • delicious
    • identi.ca
    • Bing
    • Myspace
    • LinkedIn
    • Bebo
    • HelloTxt
    • LiveJournal
    • Blogger
    • Wordpress
    • Pikeo
    • Tumblr
    • Posterous
    • YouTube
    • Utterli
    • YouAre
    • Panoramio
    • soup.io
    • TwitPic
    • TweetPhoto
    • Memiary
    • koornk
    • Publr
    • Streem
    • Yola
    • Webs
    • Jimdo
    • DevHub
    • Flooha

Some of the above are already supported, but the majority aren't. Even better than adding support for services manually would be to give domain owners the option of uploading their own icons, as there's no doubt plenty of networks I've failed to include.[/size]

    Hi Scott,

Welcome to the forum - that's an impressive list of potential web icons - hopefully the larger of the sites not already listed will be added to the Telnic icon set soon.
