Hex Code for URL Link? Does anyone know the Hex Code for the standard colour (turquoise approximately) that is used on URL links? The reason for asking is that I want to change the green URL colour I currently use on the Google AdSense text ad on http://mikeseaton.tel/ to match the colour used for the contact link URLs eg telephone numbers, email addresses, etc. Thanks in anticipation. Think this is the one you're after: #3c9199 There's a handy add-on for Firefox called Pixlr Grabber that lets you take samples of all or part of a web page and treat it as an image much like in PhotoShop. One of the things you can do is sample a color which is how I got this. |
Its 2E0F49 With chrome, right click and select the bottom option in the mousemenu. On an object to view its style and color code. I only get the name in swedish, but the option should be called something like: inspect element/object. This will open up a window showing the Html code to the left and the CSS style on the right. Now you can navigate on the left and you will se it highlight the things in the normal webbrowser window. When you highlight a link in the html window you can see the css code for the color of the link in the right window. its can look like this. a:link, body_alink { color: #2E0F49; } You can try changing it with the checkbox, to see if its the right code element. |
It looks like #2e0f49 is the color of the .TEL logo and this text, dark purple. I re-sampled and the teal inside the globe icon on http://mikeseaton.tel is #3c929a. Font size for ease of seeing color, not emphasis. |
I think I.E.and firefox use the default unvisited hyperlink colour: #0000FF. The purple visited hyperlink colour is #800080, and default hover colour is full-on red: #FF0000. |
Thanks for the responses - I actually went for 378E97 in the end - got this hex code from the CSS file that Telnic are using onhttp://mikeseaton.tel Hopefully when the new control panel comes out we will be able to set the colour code on URL links ourselves - making it easy to match it up with the Google AdSense URL colour code. I use ColorPic to identify colors system-wide (not just in browsers, but anywhere on your screen). It's very useful, and free:http://www.iconico.com/colorpic/ -Ryan |
Ryan, thanks for the excellent link. The question now is - should I go back and start again? I spent hours trying to find a suitable background match with the colours on my non-tel sites, In the end I opted for colours that would depress the viewer as much as trying to find the best colour depressed me. Ryan, I thank you too! What a great find! I'll use this all the time from now on! Dan |
