I heard that name.com began to charge increased price for renewal of 3-letters TELs.

How much it is, I do not know, as I  had radically reduced my TELs just to few ones and have no one 3-letters.

Now, after hearing that news, I think that I did a mistake not reducing them to zero. Because next move of Telnic/Telnames could be the increase of renewal price first of English nouns and later of other words. It seems that these leeches will not stop until squeezing the last drop of blood from former tel-fans.

Yes that's correct, Name.com have increased renewal prices of XXX.tel domains to $11.25 (+ VAT if you live in Europe).

They are also using this higher renewal rate if you renew what Telnames consider a "Premium" .Tel domain e.g. I have just renewed Importers.tel and got charged this higher (though still competitive) rate of $11.25 + VAT.

So a word of warning - Do NOT let any .Tel domains drop that Telnames consider "Premium" (shown by the higher renewal rate at Name.com) expecting to be able to re-register them later - on dropping they are likely to be picked up and resold by Telnames themselves at a much higher than normal registration price !

Here's one example of a Telnames-registered domain (marked as "Inactive") - Exporters.tel - check out the Whois at https://www.whois.com/whois/exporters.tel

PS. The registration price of XXX.tel domains at Name.com is $625 (+ VAT if you live in Europe).

I can confirm that Telnic / Telnames is watching all dropping .tel domains and is charging premium prices for good keyword domains that have been dropped.
This is Telnames' new strategy and was annouced with different words here:
