Allowedly it's difficult for a new technology to reach ordinary people on the street.
All revolutionizer like Apple, Facebook, Google and Microsoft (in the 80s) started small and it took their products years, sometimes even decades to take off.
The same is happening with .tel domains. Like the internet in early years, nobody knows about it.

Inspired by the overwhelming success of the internet later some domain investors started to hijack all quality .tel domain names when this product was launched in 2009.
Since the market penetration has stayed low until today, it still isn't easy to monetize these internet properties. In the meantime those domain investors had not many ideas what to do with them; so they just have placed tons of commercials on their .tel domains. The result is disillusioning, e. g.: fx.tel, barnet.tel, trinidad.tel (just 3 out of countless examples).

When I visit these domains by accident, I only have one urgent desire: closing my browser tab immediately!
Certainly this situation is not good for the image of a product in early stage like .tel!
Let's hope more end users will discover the advantages of .tel, so these ugly pictures will disappear after some time.

Good point! Telnic has learned from this mistake; the new design at Telnames doesn't allow ads at all: kash.tel

Good point! Telnic has learned from this mistake; the new design at Telnames doesn't allow ads at all: kash.tel

Telnames is just for professionals, traders & brands that don't care about 'price' or sub domains or developing anything, they just want a background a small gallery and a coupon and that's all the time they want to waste on it, that's telnics thinking but I expected some of these new features to be and should be 'standard' like gallery's, backgrounds and new themes, they should be available to everyone not just a select 1% of corporate clients.

Go look at http://blog.chi.mp/ it's free and has way more features than telnames, you can import feeds and do pretty much everything you need to do without developing anything, the only thing it doesn't have is being built on restrictive technology designed to syndicate and update back-end data.

What I dislike the most about telnic is they have an inability to communicate correctly or warn us not to get our hopes up as x,y,z ideas will mean e,6,g, yes they hinted but we need strong leadership not weak minded feeble company executives who are afraid to stir the pot, .tel is supposed to stir the pot and shake up the communications industry, telnic need to make leaps and bounds and do a constant and heavy pitch about who they are and what telnic represents for all our futures and why most importantly if company X wont get behind development or integration they're going to loose Y.

Also I don't see adverts as a big mistake, the only mistake is the implementation and the quality of the targeted advert, adverts are supposed to be none intrusive and likable but .tels do have too many of them as domain holders try to claw back some income, so telnames exists to cater to those who all ready OWN a business strategy and don't depend on the .tel for profit but the core of what .tel was made for, communication.
