Sure it would work, but is Telnic flexible enough? (We know the answer.)

@TimSpears - it would have to apply only to Telnames format domains (the only version being marketed) rather than the original Telnic subdomain .tels, which of course are still currently sold via registrars.
But given that some .tel registrars are already getting ****** off with Telnic/Telnames over them marketing and promoting a new format (Telnames), whilst denying it to existing registrars, and with nearly 2000 new gTLDs coming soon, I can't imagine the sale of .tel via many existing registars is something that will continue indefinitely.
So Telnic/Telnames could in theory give away Telnames format domains to millions of users worldwide, run ads on them to make a profit on their operational costs, and make further money on a Telnames super-format including desirable features like subdomains and no advertising (except ads provided by the super-format user).
Or we could carry on as we are currently doing until the money runs out in 2016 !

Talk about Domain Name Wire having a crystal ball - nearly 5 years ago !
How many domain investors, software developers, power users and registrars wish they had read this article before becoming involved with .tel ?

Re the above highlight in Red, I do believe TelCP (Tel Control Panel) is working on a .tel alternative along these lines from a post he made a little while back.
I don't have the link right now, but seem to remember the ETA was around end June / beginning July for the first phase of the development to go live.
TelCP, can you update us on the progress of your project ?

Yes, I remember that, he said that it will be ready end June, but no one know what exactly is going on, we need to wait to end June, I asked him here in the forum, if the new project is something with .tel but never answer back.
