If you want to put your contact data on Internet, with the hope to be found, don't buy a tel, but take a free site on Weebly.

If I search for my forename & surname in Google, the site http://silvano-garello.weebly.com/ , that I made some months ago for testing the service and never updated, is above the site http://silvano-garello.tel/ that I own and maintain from 2010.
14th place for Weebly, 24th place for the .tel

For Google seems to be more important a third-level domain offered for free, whan a paid .tel domain.

After taking a look at your both websites, it is very clear to me why Weebly performs better than .tel: Your site at Weebly has more content than your .tel.
Google search is all about content. If you place only little information on your site (doesn't matter if Weebly or .tel), it won't get good results.

If you add a lot of information, you can get good results with .tel. Only if you have your .tel at Telnames, you won't be able to add many things.
So always register your .tel at Telnic (not at Telnames) and fill it with many data.

There are many FREE WEB SITE creation services such as http://www.Weebly.com, which is why Telnic/Telnames need to offer a USP (Unique Selling Point) - apart from having your own domain name of course.

I would like this USP to be the promised (see http://www.telnic.org/tour-global-directory.html), but never delivered, Tel Global Directory.

What do others feel is necessary to persuade users, in their millions, to PAY FOR A .TEL when there are so many Free offerings ?

    http://MikeSeaton.tel

PS. "Data in the DNS" won't cut it as a USP to encourage paying customers as users simply don't care where data is stored !

That's the point. All customers who stay away from Telnic and Telnames have understood this.
Now we have to wait for Telnic to understand this, too. Perhaps one day Telnic will deliver.

    It's a tough call...

Boracay.tel maintained since 2009 was/is always being overtaken by 3rd party free blogging sites. Heartbreaking considering the thousands of hours that went into it over many years.
    (Search term "boracay directory")

Bali.tel on the other hand, well it's showing to be very promising. Created less than 1 year ago, has risen dramatically, now page 1 position 1 in ranking (search term "bali directory")

In the early days of .tel, a lot of boracay.tel pages were removed by google for whatever reason, I think mark can confirm a similar situation for his prominent domains back then. It was possibly to do with the pages being considered too similar (during the buildout phase)

In contrast, bali.tel was created extremely quickly. is fairly comprehensive too (a lot of data)
And each page is definately unique...I have not found any pages that were banned by google, although at this point I'm not putting much effort into looking.

I use for that purpouse blogspot_com.

I am at first page by a search "Lithuanian Legends" - if you type this in Russian (that my site is in Russian language only).I thinkGoogle should like blogspot_com more then all other similar sites just because this site belongs to Google.
