And here's another source, which shows the registration totals for IDNs, TelChina (TC), TelNames (TN) as well as the overall total.
What's more it's updated daily - http://www.Dottel.net

Re: .TEL registration numbers
If Telnic won’t speed up the development, registration numbers next year will be a disaster!
Of course domain investors who spend $ 300 for one .tel during landrush in 2009 for the duration of 3 years can easily pay $ 10 for the fourth year. (That is what happened this year.)
But will they still be interested to keep them if no innovations are shown after that?

Re: .TEL registration numbers
Rambo, I have observed the opposite:
A lot of landrush domains have been dropped this year.
But landrush domains which haven’t been dropped usually are even extended until 2014 or 2020 already.
Since it seems remaining invested .tel owners intent to keep their .tel domains for longer, I don’t expect a big number of dropping .tel domains in the future anymore.

Re: .TEL registration numbers
I expect to pass mine down to my son or daughter, so much longer but I've yet to pay any of them for anything other than a year at most and that's due to low funds on my side so as soon as I can get more funding I'll pay and forget as they do what I need for now at least.TelTalk wrote:Rambo, I have observed the opposite:

..
Oh and some tech savvy parents only name their children based on what domain they can acquire or is still available in the pool, like parental realestate for their future like panning for collage every kid in the future will need a website or a contact card so theres a marketing idea if someone could make a website that parents could search for names and suggests .tel none taken names along side .com or a tld of their host country.
..
They can pick up both for a long term investment and should re-float the numbers.

The comparison with other TLD is interesting: .xxx doesn't show any increase after launch, .pro had a weak start and is catching up, .mobi is keeping his levelTelTalk wrote:TLD Domain Counts (including TEL)

Re: .TEL registration numbers
http://www.dottel.net shows .TEL falls today below 270K - it's lowest level since January 2011 !
See http://www.hosterstats.com/DomainNameCounts2011.php
and http://www.hosterstats.com/DomainNameCounts2012.php
for detailed first day of month figures.
How long do Telnic/Telnames think they can wait before starting the absolutely essential Worldwide Marketing (preferably via http://www.CJ.com) ?

Re: .TEL registration numbers
The interest in .tel is decreasing continuously.
In the past years we've seen about 100 new registrations per day.
Nowadays it's far less.

Meanwhile the content quality is increasing, because most registrations from Telnames lead to used domains (instead of empty domains from Telnic).Sunrise wrote:The interest in .tel is decreasing continuously.

Re: .TEL registration numbers
Just checked http://www.dottel.net and find .Tel is approx 18K below the above post figure (13 July) at just 252,001 today !mikeseaton wrote:http://www.dottel.net shows .TEL falls today below 270K - it's lowest level since January 2011 !

I, along with many others on this forum, could list all the fairly obvious things that should have been done (could still be ?) to turn things around for the .tel extension.
But there's really no point - since Telnic refuse to listen to their customers and communicate with them !
So make your own mind up, carry on as things are (however unsatisfactory you find the situation) or cut your losses and get on with some real work where suppliers value and involve their customers ?
Many software developers, domain investors and power users have reluctantly decided on the latter course given the (lack of) reaction they find they get from Telnic !
Of course Telnic could change tomorrow and start both the essential worldwide marketing of .tel and also communicating with their customers.
Do you think this will happen ?
I Don't !

What content?Moonlight wrote:Meanwhile the content quality is increasing, because most registrations from Telnames lead to used domains (instead of empty domains from Telnic).
There is no content on any Telname from Telnames.
It's impossible to add content into them.
Even with the section "more information" nobody can add more than seven lines of text.

This is the current main issue.mikeseaton wrote:But there's really no point - since Telnic refuse to listen to their customers and communicate with them !
Why Telnic can't involve the community as promised before?
2009 Telnic was very active in communication with their customers.
2010 the effort was reduced before it has been canceled completely in 2011.
The oposite is needed to bring .tel back on track.

My point of view:mikeseaton wrote:Of course Telnic could change tomorrow and start both the essential worldwide marketing of .tel and also communicating with their customers.

Telnic is still in their comfort zone.
They are still in the process of checking out if high revenues can be generated with little effort.
Perhaps they are even right with it, although I don't believe it.
Now we hear some commercials on the radio. Perhaps this will bring the needed awareness.
I have my doubts, because Telnic's marketing from 2009 didn't reach many end customers either.
Before Telnic don't believe there is another way, they won't increase their effort for enhancement, communication and marketing.

Re: .TEL registration numbers
The 252,764 figure from the above link is probably NOT the figure that matters !Telminator wrote:Oh dear!mikeseaton wrote:.Tel HosterStats Total Registrations have now been published for 1 November 2012 at
http://www.hosterstats.com/DomainNameCounts2012.php
Since the only version of .tel that is being marketed is the Telnames version as shown by http://YourBusiness.tel the figure that really counts is the TN (Telnames) Total Registrations figure as shown on http://www.dottel.net
That figure is 2,625 today !
