Post by TelBlogger 2014-01-05, 9:37 pm

Having some limited success with my directories. But each one is around an 80 hour data entry project. Wondering if there is a sort cut for some of the following steps in this list of all steps:

    1. Create keyword list from Market Samurai.
    2. Order keywords logically. Modify keyword structure for human users.
    3. Enter keywords as pages
    4. Collect contact information for each page
    5. Write some text for each page both in header and footer
    6. Use Bulk tools to insert picture and logo to each page

Also what about link building - is it required?

Steps 3, 4 and 5 most time consuming.

How much text should be used on each page - 250-500 words to make search engines happy?

Appreciate thoughts and help. Thanks in advance.

I am developing as many of the 3,000 folders on each domain as I can while still retaining useability for visitors.

Most probably, Google thinks in the same way. If so, then they will value these steps as more precious and the other - as less precious. And will award your site with better or lesser position accordingly.

I think that if an idea is to find a way how to fill up your site with unique content, which will be generated automatically (not by a creative mind of a human) - that will be the same thing as to look for a working perpetuum mobile.

The perpetual motor? Yes indeed. But it actually does not take that long to produce 250 500 words but if you were to this for every page it's a big undertaking alright. And the research needed to write something is pretty time-consuming. 3000 pages at say 300 words per page is 900,000 words which is equivalent to a number of novels or a few copies of War and Peace. Not all pages need that of course. So say 500,000 words. A lot more than 80 hours!

Have not done this for any of my directories so far except now experimenting a bit with some pages. Long tail .tel keyword pages can still rank with just contact information but they are around the 1-2 searches a day variety and of course most of those result in clicks only on the first 3 results on the search page.

But I'm thinking that if the directory is structured for humans then maybe people will return and use other pages without the need for searches.

Limited of course in content because of structure of .tels.

Owners of websites sometimes hire people who write texts for these sites. Prices could begin from some 2$ for 1000 characters.

English translation of War and Peace has 560,000 words about that required to enter text into a fully developed .tel directory.

1,000 characters is around 100 - 200 words which for $2 I guess is not too bad. Technical words are longer of course. Say $4-8,000 to fully text a .tel - I wonder what the adsense earning potential would be?

They seems to have adsense click through rates about 1-2% higher than average for domains/websites.

1,000 visitors a day, say for a good master keyword, 1.5% click rate is 15 clicks a day which for good keywords would be say $1 so $15 a day which is a base amount I think around $5,000 a year in revenue. Would these figures be in the ball park? But would visitors come back? Or would the traffic gradually reduce?

Yes there is a short cut - it's called programming a script that's used in conjunction with a database !

Done by the majority of web developers with other TLDs - it's just not the sort of thing that .tel was ever intended for or easily supports !

IT LOOKS LIKE "GAME OVER" FOR TELNIC SUBDOMAIN .TELS - if you don't agree with this statement then please explain why ALL the marketing - TV ads, radio shows, business exhibitions, affiliate scheme, official blogging, etc - only happens now for Telnames single page .tels as shown by http://YourBusiness.tel !

@TelBlogger - just a friendly word of warning before you spend your whole life producing the .tel equivalent of "War and Peace" !

I think that may be it would be possible to find much more cheaper prices - if you would manage to find frilancer in the English-speaking African countries, like Sierra Leone, etc. Some people there for sure can do that job well for much lesser money. If you will find one, please, let me know - may be I will be also interested in his service.

I think that there is no need to put large amount of texts in a directory at once. Better to put small texts but to do this regularly - every day.

Also, it is important to check texts for their uniqueness. I use Russian service http://advego.ru/plagiatus/ for that purpose. May be there exist some similar English services.

Yes, good point. An English service is Copyscape (copyscape.com).

    @mikeseaton

Yes, it is disappointing in the extreme. We;re on our own no doubt. But if you get lemons you have to try and make lemonade!

But I would just, say, do 10 pages at a time see how they rank and what sort of traffic before doing more. Not War and Peace in one shot :-).

It seems that http://advego.ru/plagiatus/ has some additional features. It can show what percent of unique text we have and the source of non-unique texts.

In the picture bellow in yellow and blue colors are shown non-unique parts of text (copypast and rewrite):
