Is there a way to put html on a .tel say for the current day's temperature on a geo?

AFIK it  isn't possible. The closest you can achieve is via an image. See example at bottom of page of http://weather.lostwithiel.tel/

The image came from netweather.tv

A while ago TelCP had a site with multiple weather images at
http://www.new-york-city.wx.tel/ but it doesn't seem to be working at the moment. There is a blog entry about it here

The other option is to use another url  for weather info and try to make it  look seamless with your dot tel site. I have tried this with Google sites for Tide Times and it doesn't look too bad on a phone see https://sites.google.com/site/lostwithielmoblie/

It seems ridiculous that Telnic hasn't opened up the control panel because there is so little functionality at present. A very reliable source told me recently that Telnic are not interested in helping with directory development. The extension can't possibly compete with things the way they are because you can't do anything much with a .tel. Who will be their customers?

The weather image updates automatically from the netweather.tv site. I don't do anything.

There are lots of weather sites that provide forecasts for adding to your website,  but they are usually html based. Netweather is one of the few (only one?)  that provide an image.

TelCP used a similar system for his New York City page, but with several images. I'm not sure where they came from.  I think he still occasionally posts on this forum so maybe he will read this thread and be able to give us the information.

AFAIK - As Far As I Know.


It certainly looks like Telnic/Telnames have no interest anymore in subdomain-based .tels (ie. the original product which is still the version of .tel sold by ALL registrars) - subdomains are necessary if you want to build a directory on your own .tel,  though not of course for your own .tel to be included in one.

Telnames .tels with their single page are the ONLY form of .tel currently actively marketed by Telnic/Telnames ie. TV ads, Radio interviews, Business shows, Affiliate program, etc.


As for "Who will be their customers?" it could have been in the UK the tradesmen and small businesses that use http://www.checkatrade.com - but that ship has well and truly sailed since they already have (which .tel doesn't):

1. A Directory that can easily be searched for Trade & Location.
2. A Rating system giving customer feedback.
3. An established track record.
4. Offline promotion through van stickers and also their own vans.
5. Hundreds of thousands of satisfied customers (including myself).

So to answer (at least for the UK) that most essential of questions - "Who will be their customers?" - I would guess it will be tradesmen and small business owners who are new to being promoted on the internet and don't appreciate the importance of the 5 points above - and may well not renew after the first year or two !
