How accurate and up to date are the data in the various whois services?

About two weeks ago I was browsing for the different types of extensions under which was recorded the name of "Albenga", my town.

I found conflicting info about albenga.com

On domaintools.com the domain was indicated as expiring on 06 may 2014 (the same for http://whois.net/ and http://www.whois.com/)

On the whois of Domainmonster and in http://who.is/ the expiration date was 06-may-2015.

After two weeks the situation remain the same.

Dynadot_com says "Expiration Date: 06-may-2015"

The domain was renewed and extended till 2015 in early May already.
The registrar of this domain named REGISTER.IT SPA is using (and transferring to other websites) the Whois Server Version 1.4 with incorrect (not updated) data.
You have to use the Whois Server Version 2.0.
The best way to do it, is to use the official site from the registry:
http://www.verisigninc.com/en_US/whois/index.xhtml
