Google search shows .tel ahead of .com I recently did a Google search for a local corporate communication firm, named King James Capital, here in Vancouver and check out what pops on top of the search engines. http://www.google.ca/search?source=i...lr%3D&aq=f&oq= |
that's nice i would like you to see the following too :) go to www.google.com ( Marine Parts Directory ) Rank 1 ( page 1) Link: http://www.google.com/search?q=marin...ient=firefox-a ( Marine Parts in China ) Rank 3 ( Page 1 ) Link: http://www.google.com/search?q=marin...ient=firefox-a ( Global Marine Parts ) Rank 1 ( Page 1 ) Link : http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&c...oq=&aqi=g-p2g8 more words too just didn't do proper survey to add more to it www.MarineParts.tel is officially Page Rank 3 i know many don't care about pagerank but if it was yours you would i bet. would be nice to hear comments on it |
I'm wondering if it's because of the use of frames on the .com site.. there really is almost no content to spider. |
not sure what that meant ? would love to know if you can explain it |
look at the page source of the .com domain and you'll see |
oh ok, its too technical for me :) Shahid |
Future of .tel I was watching a news story about the battle between Google, Bing and Yahoo. Is it silly to think that one of them would consider buying Telnic and offering the Telpages as one of their services to compete? Wouldn't it make sense for a search engine to build this into their offering and be the goto place for easy to find info? Call me crazy. |
no, definitely not a new idea. |

It is going to happen. If they don't purchase Telnic, at the very least they will use this platform to provide better, quicker and more user friendly mobile search results. There are multiple levels of improvement taking this route. |

You are right - use of iframes - there is no quality reference to the .com other than on the .tel page (.tel site is new?). - .com is showing the same content that is available on http://www.investorrelationscompany.com/ (infact it's just pulling the same site to display the content). Advantages of this particular .tel over that particular .com is - No iframes - Different content (at least not the copy paste thing) - relevant reference from one site But If we speak in general, there are many advantages in .tel sites over any other normal sites. But again it all depends on how we develope and promote them |
Bing? I think we all are pretty happy with how Google is dealing with .tel. Are we in agreement that Bing has dropped it off the map? Is it just me? |

i have decent rankings for some .tels in bing;) (with in top 3 positions for competitive keywords) |
Bing has dropped my domains, too. But very impressed with results in Google. I doubt if Bing is all that widely used. Google is part of our vocabulary now. |

I have set up http://searches.mikeseaton.tel to monitor Bing/Google/Yahoo SE positions for http://mikeseaton.tel andhttp://twitter.com/mikeseaton Bing is being good to me at the moment - with No1 & No2 positions for "mike seaton" and "mikeseaton" - the Twitter page being in front of the DotTel. The only downside I find with Bing is that it does not index to the depth of subdomains that Google does (current max level of subdomains believed to be 5 - see http://telnic.org/forum/showthread.php?p=2309) Mike Seaton |
I don't seem to be getting anywhere with Bing but clearly it can be done. Google seems OK but seems to take time to settle. Some of the Tel pages have performed well in niche fields against .com and .co.uk . Experimenting with Tels illustrates the lack of other "non mainstream" ULRs at the top of the charts such as .info etc We need to generate more quality back links I think.
