    Adverts on your .tel

Thank you Telnic team for the ads, and also supported by the existing proxy ...

How do you add an ad?

    Mark Kolb (Kprobe)09-17-2009 03:49 PM

CTH doesn't support it currently - have to use SOAP. I am experimenting with ads right now on Quick Tel Update ...
    http://www.mytel.me/quick-tel-update.php

    Mark Kolb (Kprobe)09-17-2009 04:32 PM

URL field (URI Link) is the link to the website for the advert

    dotteler09-17-2009 04:52 PM

I was trying to input google adsense : ) Can you have multiple ads on one page?

Yes you can but there are limits. Something like 2 on top, 2 on bottom and 5 on right.
Still experimenting with the Soap interface so you are getting duplicates.[/size]

Has anybody looked at Linkbox for placing ads on .tels?
    http://www.domainnamenews.com/up-to-...t-linkbox/6038

I'm interested to know what possibilities are out there with regards to the ad record, so if anyone has a service or is looking to use one please share it here.

If I try to add to a different position, it takes away the one already on the other position. Is there a way to include 'add' to the choices of replace / delete?[/size]

Heyo, I'm tracking this and other possibilities and will comment when more info is available. It looks fairly limited at this point but will become more robust soon.

    Cheers,

kprobe, what a fantastic tool this is becoming. It will be very interesting to see what data other people choose to include in the advertising areas. ads are a great addition, but the big deal is the extending (if only in a small way) the displayable data template.

I thank you kindly for your hard work.

Another possibility for ad records is not as ads, but as descriptive containers for actions, where you can compel people to do something based on your description such as this interactive one for signing a guestbook ...
    http://my-guestbook.guestbook4.tel/

Since the information and link is self contained, you can provide reasons for directing the visitor to go off-site, for example to complete a survey or to make a selection based on different options (if you like fiction, visit here, if you like romance, click here. etc).

The ad manager is now as complete as possible. If there are more suggestions, let me know. If you don't want to use your userid and password, you'll have to wait until OpenID is available.

    Yes, polls etc.
However, the words "sponsored links" still remain. something you could overide?[/size]

    Shahid09-21-2009 05:58 PM

    True,

it could be changed to something like

    Premium Links
    Premium Listing
    Paid Listing
    Paid Links

    or noting at all

    dottel.net09-21-2009 06:08 PM

would need to be one of the above vs nothing at all as ads need to be correctly identified or at least highlighted....

    Shahid09-21-2009 06:14 PM

    yes all should be highlighted

if you notice an ad now on www.usrealestate.tel the one that is on top is highlighted but the one on right is not which makes it more or less look part of .tel listing instead of premium with white background

    Thanks Mark.
Just used your Quick Tel tool http://www.mytel.me/quick-tel-update.php
to put a sample advert on here satellitetv.tel.
    Your efforts are much appreciated..

    dotteler09-22-2009 09:49 PM

I plastered http://2tweet.tel with ads.. thanks Mark!

    telme09-23-2009 04:18 AM

This is a great tool, but I am a little concerned about having to enter my password on a third party site. Are there any plans on making this open source?

Is anybody using Adsense? Google's TOS is pretty strict and you are not allowed to alter the code. How would I get Adsense to work with out altering the code? If you are using Adsense please post an example.

What ad network do you recommend using for .tel?

Does anyone know how to locate the ID of the sponsored advert?

I have no problems with store it's when I try to remove it

    Code:

    Code:
    $client->store_record($domain, 'txt', $ad);

    [size]

    Code:
    [/size]

    Code:
    $client->delete_record($domain, $id);

    Mark Kolb (Kprobe)04-04-2010 04:42 PM

Looks like you are using PHP.
It's returned in field labeled 'id' when you get text records.

    stdClass Object ( [id] => 35646912 [owner] => _ad [class] => 1 [profiles] => _all_
