    DotTel on Twitter

There is a lot of DotTel activity on Twitter http://Twitter.com

I have mentioned DotTel several times on my Twitter blog http://twitter.com/mikeseaton and also have a link to my personal DotTel http://MikeSeaton.tel in the web link permitted on all Twitter accounts.

To sign up to Twitter is free - click https://twitter.com/signup and a few seconds later your Twitter account will be live and you can if you wish enter your DotTel address in the web link.

To search DotTel posts on Twitter just enter #dottel in the search box - this generates the search url http://twitter.com/#search?q=%23dottel (Twitter search does not list all posts for a search query - only ones that it considers most significant).

There are a couple of Twitter directories (free) that I would recommend you join once your account is set up - these arehttp://wefollow.com and http://twitr.org

    See you on Twitter

Here's another useful Directory for Twitter users http://www.twibes.com - the DotTel Group can be found athttp://www.twibes.com/group/DotTel

There is a new feature on the TwitR directory at http://twitr.org which lets you nominate your Top 5 URLs - a free traffic boost if you list your own domains - here's an example from my TwitR user at http://twitr.org/user/mikeseaton

The link to add your nominated URLs is in the top right of http://topurl.twitr.org

Mike has some great points about Twitter.

Please join Peppy in his quest to quickly dominate the internet!

Please joins Peppy's ever popular Twibe at www.Twibes.com/tel

(he's already made the front page of twibes under "Small Business")

Peppy.tel is at www.Twitter.com/ImPeppy please follow him to get the word out.

Twitter's latest feature - the ability to group Twitter users into Lists (and then view only their tweets) is really useful - you don't even have to be following the users you add to your lists.

Here's one I have just created for Twitter users who are into DotTel:

    Hi Shahid,

I have added your 5 DotTel Twitter users to the list http://twitter.com/mikeseaton/dottel
    - the members of this list can be found at http://twitter.com/mikeseaton/dottel/members

I have also followed all 5 Twitter users from http://twitter.com/mikeseaton

I note that you are from Dubai - if you have any business contacts that could be interested in my domainhttp://www.DubaiPrestige.com perhaps you could point them to http://www.domains123.com/sale.asp?d...aiprestige.com

    Thanks.

    Twitter addicted?

Great thread, and thank you so much, for all of you contributions.
I have put a link to this thread on my blog ".Tel Tweets":
    http://teltweets.blogspot.com/
Here is a funny joke, about Twitter ("Twitter addicted"):
    http://sunstarcreative.ca/blog/wp-co...tterdicted.gif

    @ aliencafe:
How are you getting on, with dmv.tel?:
(DMV (department of motor vehicles) in the united states.):
    http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2411/...f171c601_o.jpg
-Did you find your freelancer, to help populate the directory, to enter 2000 subdomains (entries for main dmv offices, and local dmv offices) for 50 state offices, and 1950 local offices.?
You might have to raise the limit of your budget, increase capital, and ask Louis, to assist you, with some sort of efficient mass uploading and specially made program. Only my two cents. Cheers, and take care.;)

    Mactel,

Thanks for the above link and joke - the Macworld video on your blog http://teltweets.blogspot.com/ is a good demo of how easy it is to update your .tel directly from the iPhone or iPod Touch - the forthcoming iPad with its 1024x768 screen will make it even easier.

Thanks, Mike, for your informative comment.
-Is it better to use an iPad, than a iPone? What are all the pros and cons, besides of the bigger screen real estate?

    Quote from Mickey Alam Khan:
„A large company, that needs to get an emergency number out quickly, to manage a crisis or product recall, can use .tel to publish information on the Internet, within seconds, complying with best practices in corporate communications and disclosure. .tel is the first domain, that allows you to publish information to the Web, from any device, without the need for a Web site.“

Furthermore, one can update any of his dot tel domains, as well as the (.tel-)contact page on his existing website, in real time, from any mobile device (provided, you have the application „MyTel“ installed, which is for for managing .tel domains on an iPhone). And that is what Mike just mentioned, including the upcoming features and possibilities. (The application "Hornet", would be for using .tel on an Blackberry.)

The iPad is not planned to have phone capabilities - sales of the iPhone could be badly hit if it did. But as a portable device with effectively a full size screen at 1024x768 it will be ideal for updating and viewing DotTels on the move.

The screen size is potentially interesting - if you watch Steve Jobs video you will notice that he uses it vertically a lot of the time - like a book i.e. the width of the screen is 768 pixels (the screen automatically detects whether it is held horizontally or vertically).

Most web sites these days are written assuming at least a 1024 pixel width, which means that viewers of these sites will have to use sideways scrolling (when using the iPad vertically) - something that I personally hate as do many others.

DotTel sites of course fit comfortably within a width of 768 pixels - no sideways scrolling necessary and a better viewing experience for the iPad user.

I believe the iPad will be a huge success for those who want internet access anywhere without fuss and in a small form factor - the pricing looks good as well.

I will be getting one myself as soon as they are available in the UK - but not the first models which will be WiFi only - the models coming a month or so later with WiFi + 3G will give mobile internet access without having to be within reach of a WiFi hotspot.

More info on the iPad and Steve Jobs keynote video can be found at http://www.apple.com/ipad

    Thanks, Mike. Very interesting...
-Is the iPad some sort of "mini-mini laptop", which is limited, because you can surf on it (Internet access), but not phone?
But could you use Skype on it, for example ( or Voip), etc.?

I will be setting up my mini laptop, this week, and have made a blog for it : http://myminilaptop.blogspot.com/

    Edit / P.S.:
I just checked out your link, and see, that it is the same size screen, as my mini laptop. The screen is just vertical, if you will, compared with my mini laptop screen/panel (both, around 10").
The advantage, that I see, is that you don't have a keyboard. But the disadvantage might be, that you would have to have a stand, to put the screen in upright position, instead of laying it flat on a table... (?)
However, for carrying the "thing", one, or the other, it will have the same size, when the mini laptop is folded together, and in its slipcover.
This iPad, might be a alternative, for people, who have no mini laptop. And so, they could possible decide for a iPad, instead of a mini laptop or smart book. If the average mini laptop costs around $400, than they might nevertheless want one, if the iPad is much more expensive. And so the price, might be another criteria, if the benefit, is not that big, compared with handling of a iPad. For getting a iPad, the solution might be, to simply wait, till the price drops (within one or two years).
Another advantage, I can see, is that the iPad might be only half as heavy than a mini laptop. But this fact, might not be that relevant, as a mini laptop is not heavy, anyway. - Maybe for women, a argument, wanting the lightest device?

    Hi Mactel,

I don't know whether internet-based calls will ever be available on the iPad - my guess (and its only that) is that Apple would not want to go down that route in case they hurt sales of the iPhone.

Regarding the use of a stand for viewing Apple already have that covered - have a look at the bottom of pagehttp://www.apple.com/ipad/design

It will be interesting to see whether netbook (i.e. mini laptop) sales are affected by the iPad or if it just expands the market - my hope is the latter as I have some premium "netbook" domain names for sale at http://www.domains123.com/names.asp?cat=el

    mactel02-24-2010 06:42 PM

    Thanks.
    I understand.
    Nice...
-One could even attach a external keyboard.
Another pro, I can figure out, is, that the iPad has a touch screen.
But if you would attach a keyboard, and have the pad in a stand, it would be a bit troublesome, to to use a cursor, if even possible. And so, I guess, that a keyboard is not practical, if only allowed to use a touch screen function. Typing with a keyboard, is definitely more comfortable and easier, than typing on a touch screen.
It probably also depends, for what you intend to use your mobile device...
If you are used to using a iPhone already: Ok: Than using a iPad wont trouble you. If a touch screen is, for what you are going for, than it would be the iPad, instead of a mini laptop.
