Mobile Coupons - A UK Solution.... ....that's available now ! I was reading in the paper this morniing about Sir Terry Leahy - the guy who has built up the UK's largest supermarket chain Tesco (which established the first successful supermarket internet-order home-delivery service for food and groceries) and the private investments he is making now that he has left Tesco with a multi-million pound fortune. One of his major investments is in Eagle Eye Solutions who have come up with a very simple idea that works and is available now in the UK - track people's location using mobile phones and then "push" a discount coupon to their phone whilst they are located near the store, with the discount being automatically applied at the checkout. No paper coupons to process and you get the customer's attention while they are near to the place where the discount is located - this is just the sort of application that Mark and others want to develop and have been pushing Telnic to make sure they have what they need to do it. But .tel has been overtaken by events in the UK mobile coupons market by Eagle Eye Solutions - that's why we need this thread and my post responded to a.s.a.p. - .tel does not have the luxury of unlimited time any more ! Just a matter of time and events like this will push past .tel. We need apps and/or app infrastructure created NOW! This attitude of making the community ecosystem create apps is not working. Us developers have done what we can - it's now up to Telnic to deliver (actually should have delivered by now). Im sorry to say, but this silence on these important threads for the past week is totally unnacceptable. Mark |
i like how the eagle eye solution uses a pin code entered at the pos to provide integration with the vendors payment systems and track coupon usage, etc There may even be an opportunity to integrate with them - the .tel is the delivery platform while the existing eagle eye solution provides the rest of the infrastructure. |
