New Template in the making? Empty New Template in the making?

New Template in the making?

Take a look at androidandiphoneapps.tel - it is a TelNames sale, not yet populated but the style indicates a new template based on both the look and the DNS info. Could this be the start of a new hybrid offering only available to Key Systems?

It's at least uniform (style) on both iPad(desktop) and iPhone
This could be from 1 year ago, style shown of the promised new CTH

Mark, time to get your first .telnames .tel
We need you to hit the ground running (oauth. For .telnames)

Have had one for a week, still annoyed about the coupon code I could have used to save some dough. But for O/A, no go, at least not yet.

I've played around with trixie's (my wife) via my.tel and there's a few extras worth mentioning.
Notes and usernames accessed and made good use of. I'm adding notes, to help her break-up her card into small groupings.. Using the note to describe a little more where the subsequent web links are going to.

I'm also using the "username" fields so that when she accesses her telnames control panel, she can see all that stuff that's so easily forgotten. Twitter linked in and Facebook passwords and ids etcetc (turned invisible to public obviously)

I also played around with profiles, but that was not too effective in that hiding certain contact data did not stay hidden when swapping. But headers changed etc. not much use while the visibility doesn't stick.

Some other things too, is that iPads and iPhones CAN upload photos and logos.
Just switch to opera mini bowser instead of safari.

it's now populated, somewhat, and gone are all traces of a HYBRID template. Sigh

Mark, it was for a moment, in the same style as the "new setup wizard" with the checker plate toolbar at top, and purple striped/grey header bar. Not sure how it came to be that there was an active new look to the desktop for that brief moment in time?

Any ideas?

And now another template for .tel as seen on my iPhone. This is showing all along that .tel has enormous flexibility. See here...http://longduhotel.tel

If only we ALL had use of these features! The CONTACT FORM especially!

And in this example there are product listings! Perfect for directories and services.
Possibly multiple coupon type of data?? Seems like elements taken from the telnames template as well as a comment system?

Did anyone check how these sites resolve on smart phones? On my android it is beautiful. Pictures and social media icons well displayed.

Extremely slow to load any of these sites on my iPhone - and also very slow to resolve on dekstop in all browsers.

Very interesting find though by @boracay and shows the possibilities for future development.

Jus use "powered by tel" to discover new listings. Mike was the guy that came up with that idea

.tel could well be the Wordpress of "contact websites" if only more flexibility came with the prepaid domain/website kit. Widgets etc. Certainly good news to see the technology is actually under the hood

I'm only ever looking on iPhone/iPad these days. Cannot understand why the default .tel template on mobiles does not get priority for an upgrade. Everybody else now using telnames icons, the mobile layout could/should be updated as priority

Exactly. On mobiles the templates actually MATCH for iPhone and iPad. This is basic stuff. That's what makes sense to show newbies. Load times are fine (whatever it's 2012)

Maps. Fantastic that they use baldu instead of google. That is key to iPhone in ios6.

Update: YouTube news. Not sure how this will effect the current mobile .tel template (probably telnames is fine because it plays "in-line")

Try it on a desktop Dutch. Very different but SAME THEME. Has HTML 5.0 cascading effects. The forms has "captcha" etc. go try an ecafe (yeah I know. I don't have a desktop anymore either) hmmm

Saw an article recently (lost the link) where it says that major developers are developing new applications for mobile (phones) first then scaling for tablets and desktops. Shows the direction we are headed in.

Blunderer08-08-2012 10:17 AM

@Gibran,

This is why I have been so frustrated by the Forum obsession with templates. Open a .tel on a mobile phone and say to yourself - what else do I NEED in this display, and what would enhance it?

Images and video through the CTH must be the next development - if there is to be any development at all. Do we need that? Yes. Do we need another two years wasted on the Magic Template? No. Are we up the creek - caught in the disparity between .tel and Telnames? Yes.

Yes, please! It's ridiculous to not have this, like making a car with a fancy stereo, but no wiring to the battery.
