@FrankW - interesting go-ahead type of person according to the Touraj Parang bio.

Strategic and Transactional executive obsessed with bringing to mass market innovative products and services that deliver compelling and delightful user experiences. I am drawn to disruptive technologies that transform industries for the benefit of the end users, and over the past 15 years have been at the forefront of changing the website creation, mobile communications and legal industries.

Maybe Telnic/Telnames could make a job offer to this GoDaddy executiive ?

I doubt though anyone would join Telnic/Telnames at the moment with the money rapidly running out and the production of the 2013 company accounts now delayed (see http://www.teltalk.org/t1733-telnic-pulls-a-cunning-move) a total of 3 times !

GoDaddy was against .tel, because a registrar couldn't sell hosting and whois services with it.

But GoDaddy got it wrong; .tel offers the ability to sell:
    a) .tel domains for a higher retail price and
    b) additional features on top of a .tel domain.

The last point is important, since Telnic doesn't develop .tel.
Instead registrars could sell advanced .tel domains by developing unique .tel templates.
Unfortunately Telnic didn't spend effort to approach the most important companies in this field (like GoDaddy).

So that's 3 senior GoDaddy executives with a personal Telnames .tel (not the older style non-marketed Telnic subdomain .tel) but none of them think it's worthwhile GoDaddy as a company selling the .tel gTLD ?

Neither do Google Domains have any interest in the .tel gTLD !

Still what do GoDaddy (world's largest registrar) and Google (world's most used search engine) know about what you need to do to succeed on the internet ?

Kash - are you sure the current approach is still right and GoDaddy, Google and TelTalk forum members are all wrong ?

    PS. Rhetorical questions above !

There is a story behind the GoDaddy executive registrations. They went to dinner and the conversation turned to what extension is the most useless. Quickly they arrived at a meeting of minds - the dogsh*t .tel extension of course. The wine flowed freely.

At last when they were all drunk someone suggested each buying a .tel as a joke to get a few laughs when they went back to office. Kind of like turning up to a party with a really ugly date - just for a few laughs. And so they did.

Back at the office everyone thought it was a great joke because when the Control Panel was opened you couldn't even add videos or photos. Kind of like a 1995 html Russian website.

Then they forgot about them and they will be dropped come the first renewal date.
