@Moonlight - what makes you think Google will attach any significance to forwarding to a .Tel domain - given that they have already decided that in their view (just as GoDaddy did) the .Tel gTLD is currently unimportant ?

Check out Google Domains and try to register a .Tel - they will tell you they don't support the registration of the .Tel gTLD.

.Tel needs a HUGE shot in the arm if it is ever to be taking seriously by both "Joe Public" and the major internet players - this realistically cannot happen until the current stewardship by Telnic/Telnames ends.

Just .TELling it like it is !

@FrankW - Interesting article - Responsive Web Design (one web site that adjusts displayed content to the screen size) does seem to be the way forward, rather than having one site for desktop/laptop computers and a seperate one for mobile devices.

Kinda puts .Tel into the shade as a "mobile web site" - all that's left therefore for .Tel is as a SINGLE POINT OF CONTACT THAT WORKS SEAMLESSLY ON ALL INTERNET DEVICES - which is where .Tel started out nearly 6 years ago !

Shame about all those wasted .Tel years - which should have been spent producing a .TEL GLOBAL DIRECTORY and doing whatever it takes to encourage Telcos and software developers to develop AUTOMATED DNS SERVICES such as Dial/Email/Skype by Name.

Still I suppose Telnic (or at least what's left of them) know what they are doing ?

That's the big misunderstanding about .tel: .tel isn't another website.
.tel should be a reform of phone numbers.
In 2009 Telnic tried to market .tel with the approach described by Mike, but made a serious mistake:
Although .tel isn't just another domain, Telnic tried to sell it to the same customers in need of a website.
Of course .tel couldn't give those customers what they needed, because .tel never provided the tools for them.
But I have never seen a developed concept by Telnic or its partners to sell .tel to phone customers!
That's why .tel hasn't got attention until today!
And Telnic doesn't do anything to change this.
Meanwhile Telnic even doesn't do anything at all.

Most wordpress site are mobile friendly no big deal.
i could not understand why telnic think they could sell a tel name with point of contact when you can put that on your website and not pay extra for it with a telnames site.

i did say once it would make a handy online private database like a office program/word

Tel finished now bad management hell they even had a actor fronting the company.

unbelievable company but soon to be lost in time and ending in a big joke.

If you don't have a mobile optimized website, it will affect your ranking at Google.

.tel sites (the old type) are mobile friendly.

Repeat the test several times.

Is only not friendly the first page but the rest of the pages are fine, that is weird. but yes sometimes the first page is friendly too.

Telnames are a great instant mobile website but they are branded (which is currently a fixed component) so a viewer/customer you are trying to have remember your new mobile website "product.newtld" is left somewhat confused 

This is in reference to purchasing a new mobile website and new domain. 

There are other non branded mobile products,  purchase the new.tld and url point at these great fast ready made mobile websites. perhaps moreso than the costs of these website services is the pure convenience of working within an app. Telnames is great in that regard. Would be nice as a standalone product.

I'm wonderng why in my previous post the words "mobile friendly" are linked to an advertising web page, link that I have not tagged and that does not appear when I enter in the forum with my login.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement of Telnic's stewardship of the .tel project !

The next extension that is likely to get passed by both .Science and .Link is .Tel which is sitting around 128K registrations but is losing registrations almost every day.

According to http://registrarstats.com/TLDDomainCounts.aspx .Tel lost a further 408 domains today (158 registrations less 566 drops) - surely Kash must realise by now it's GAME OVER FOR TELNIC !
