1) What was the search term you keyed-in to Google ?

2) How often (Google searches per month) is that search term used by people ?

3) What is the .tel domain that has achieved these results ?
 
It's actually not that difficult to get a .TEL - or any other gTLD - high in Google SERPS if the search term you enter is pertinent enough to your particular domain name and the search term doesn't have much competition.

So be interested to hear what the search term for your .tel domain was and how competitive the search is ?

Exactly! If the search term is 'cars' we should all be impressed. If the search term is 'get oil change and lube in Basil Street in Lower Bogner England' then it is very easy to rank in SERPs.

The search term was only my first name and surname (only 10.600 search results).

I was surprised about the speed of indexing.

It's still nice.
Hence it's very easy to rank well for specific keywords.
It's right that you can't beat a .com with a .tel, but you can become visible with a .tel on the net easily!
Of course it's difficult to rank well for famous keywords; but that needs a lot of effort with every domain.

The domain extension doesn't matter; the amount of content does!

As usual Moonlight you are wrong. 

It is harder to rank with a .tel than any other domain extension ever created for the simple reason that you can not put meaningful content on a .tel. 

The SERPs will almost always favour content even when the search term is not competitive. If someone got to position 2 page 1 Google for their name it is because it's not commonly searched for and the page supply is close to nothing (ie 10,000 results).

.tel is the illegitimate red-headed son of a 1990's pre-internet designed Siberian ham radio operator's idea of what should appear on one of the first CRT screens. If the internet was a person .tel was what that person shat out in 1995.

A responsible manager of a service provider would try to improve the product, so that it's accepted by the market!

to think you can rank any better on a tel name then a domain you can can have more control over is crazy talk.

there is now to many gtlds out there for anyone to even care!
and who would take tel over….nobody want to be associated with failure bad management and customer care at this time….best to keep well clear of this one.
