Today .tel went under 129,000 registrations. The thing about c r a p is sooner or later it gets expelled through the anus.

In any case only one-word domains, which are English dictionary words could have value in the future.

Besides, such domains with possible future value should be nouns, which describe services, businesses, names of goods, popular people names, names of big cities and popular Geo-locations.

How much of such words exist at all: 5 - 10 thousands? So the number of registrations, which could "survive" drops because of the hope that after years of waiting, one nice day they will come into demand is also 5 - 10 thousands.

The value in these types of registrations are for TLDs that have development ability. .tel is useless in comparison. They may changed with a non-retarded registry but the probabilities are low.

Exactly! .tel could transform into a great product, but Telnic a) doesn't want to develop it and b) tries everything to prevent that a successor can take over to improve .tel.

That are very bad conditions for the future!!

It seems that till now not a big number of TELs was dropped. For example, at the moment at Dynadot only 9 TELs are dropping now.

It seems that bulk-owners decided to pay for one more year.

2-400 a day is still a significant number:

People can be very stupid when it comes to domains especially, it seems, owning the worst domain extension ever created; .tel.

And the next days figures from:

    http://registrarstats.com/TLDDomainCounts.aspx

    611. That makes well over 1,000 in two days. They are mainly, I would think, the ones that expired around end of March perhaps from landrush registrations.

This extension is the biggest turkey in the domain industry's history. And it [gobble gobbled] lots of absorber money including my own. I am down from an initial 250-280 registrations to just 8 which pay for themselves now. You see I believed those motherf**kers and their attitude which indicated preparedness for hard work. It was a con from day one IMHO because they never did much to help it.

Currently I left about of 25 TELs. At 8 of them I have projects - they are additions for my COM projects, so there is no sense to drop them because my work on them costed more then their renewal price.

Till now, I did not regreted of any of my TEL, which during the TEL history I had dropped.

First time ever the registry website for the world's most useless domain extension has dropped below 500,000 in Alexa ranking:

    502,273

It's best was under 100,000 a long time ago.

Your local town car dealer probably has a higher Alexa ranking.

The registry's companion cheat-your-own-resellers with one-page completely useless website Telnames.com is at

    714,475

    which is an all-time low

Sharlene who runs the corner hair salon in Upper Bogner probably has a website with more traffic and a higher ranking. Obviously her services provide some value to her customers unlike Telnames.com.

Another milestone approaching for Telnic who are the registry for .tel in case you haven't heard of them.

Continuing drops now make less than 125,000 total registrations only a day or two away (125,043 today).

Congratulations to Kash and team at Telnic for their superlative efforts! Keep it up guys and gals and 100,000 will no longer be a pipe-dream. Chocks away!

Perhaps in the spirit of UK business you can apply for a subsidy to buy up some of the cascade of dropping domains.

Telnic isn't an economically thinking company. It's like an authority office without any knowledge how to run a business.

Only a 60% drop in revenue for a completely useless product is a win for Kash and his team in my opinion. Remember there are still many hapless registrants out there who don't realize what they own.

Everything runs very well - exactly as planned 17 years ago (when Telnic was founded in the year 1998): collecting money and using it for paying high salaries to Telnic's management. Meanwhile, the CEO of Telnic had a wonderful life for 17 years now (with high salary and 99% leisure time). Why should he change anything?

When do you finally understand that you have been abused? Telnic only needed you to spend your money to be able to exist for 17 years.
No business case has ever existed for .tel!
